Guitar Players in Jacksonville will find a mix of new and established sounds and genres, heavily influenced by Southern and Country Rock, and live performance. There are many opportunities for local talent, and Southern hospitality is alive and well in Jacksonville, FL. It’s awesome.
Many notable bands hail from Jacksonville, FL. Established Jax bands include: Limp Bizkit, Lynyrd Skynryd, The Outlaws, 38 Special, the Bellamy Brothers, Molly Hatchett, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and the Allman Brothers Band, who formed in Jacksonville. Greg Allman says: “We used to setup in the Willow Branch Park in Jacksonville and play for free on Sundays and ask fans
for a really long extension cord so we could plug in. (smiles)” It worked.
Also notable is Country Rocker Gram Parsons, who was simultaneously in The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers. He taught The Rolling Stones Keith Richards how to play country rock style music on the Guitar. And the new Golden Era is not yet over in 2015 thanks to artists like Susan Tedeschi, and her husband, Derek Trucks, both of Tedeschi Trucks Band.
Derek Trucks was a member of the Allman Brothers for a few years while serving an apprenticeship with the Allmans, and Eric Clapton.

It’s a good idea to make the rounds and connect with other like-minded
musicians so you improve your playing. And Jax will encourage you to do that in that down to earth way. People are not as judgmental about skill level here. I found that the kind of people I meet in Jax are full of energy to play, and socializing with them gives me a place I feel at home. I haven’t met anyone I didn’t like or who wouldn’t share knowledge. Live music is a way of life. It is easier to be inspired to study music in Jacksonville due to the fact that you are surrounded by music makers who have been where you are now, and hold out their hand in friendship.
