To my point, often your government holds its hands out to many of us and says, do not worry, we will help you, come and get this “free” help, take a hold of this rope and we will pull you up to success. Do not worry, trust us. We can give you “free” money to help your business, your art etc. Take the time to fill out these forms, sign your independence over to us and we will take care of you. We will determine if you are worthy of our help, but you can trust us.
“WE DO NOT REALIZE UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE...”
This is surely tempting, but it can be like an addictive drug. At first you are seduced by it and then before you know it you are owned by it.
What we do not realize until it is too late for us, that we become dependant on their “free” help, their easy path to “success”. A large part of all of your future is dependant on their good will.
We cannot do anything to upset their apple cart. They can arbitrarily stop the flow of money or assistance or whatever they have “hooked” us on, at their whim, so we are no longer independent of them. They can do what they like, and just like the climber holding on to the rope, we feel our life depends on their good will, whatever that is. They might cut the rope we are clinging on to, and then what do we do.
You see this is the trick, this is how you loose control, you loose your ability to object, you become enslaved and you keep your thoughts to yourself. After a while it becomes easier to just convince yourself that what they are telling you is the truth, there is that pesky Cognitive Dissonance again. Too big a word for this old cowboy though.

Let me tell you from someone that started out homeless and worked hard and tirelessly to make a place for themselves in the world (as meagre as it may be), those government folks came to me, and offered me a free hand up, but I knew it was not for free. Your free will, your free conscience and your ability to object, was the price, it always was.
You know the old “How Many Fingers Am I Holding Up”, of course at first we know they are holding up four, but after a while we will agree with them that they are holding up five and we actually begin to believe it.. I know I know, you would never do that...or would you?
Keep in mind, for every dollar you get from their “programs” it probably cost two or three dollars of someone else’s money to get it to you. They certainly have sticky fingers don’t they.
