And they want you to fawn over their kindness and generosity for giving you someone else’s money.
It is always tempting to grab hold of the rope and let them pull you up, it certainly seems easier than actually climbing that steep ladder of success yourself. The biggest difference between the two is that if you are climbing a ladder you can choose to stop, climb higher or climb down, whatever you want. When you are being pulled up on a rope by someone else, they control how high you get, they control if you get off or not, and I can guarantee to you, they will never pull you up to the top, they will keep you in their control, and you will be helpless to do anything else but obey.
It reminds me of some of those old religions where the people were always trying to guess what their god wanted. Of course you can never know what an imaginary god wants and they would imagine all kinds of things they could do to satiate their god, you know they would go as far as sacrificing their own dear children to satiate their imaginary gods.
What will you sacrifice?
If you find yourself dependant on a faceless and soulless bureaucracy, what would you do to satiate it, to ensure you do not offend it, ...... what would you do.
How about thinking about jumping off the rope they suspend you on. You might get bruised when you hit the ground, but take if from me, the bruises will heal, and then your heart will heal and your courage will grow, and you will have the chance to become someone you will be proud of.
After all it does not matter a hoot what I think, what matters is how you feel deep down, you know, when no one else is around and you are just alone with yourself.
I know it is old and cliche, but I love it: “Courage does not mean you are without fear, it means you are scared as hell, but you saddle up anyway”.
That is my two cents worth.
