Making a Self Stopped Coil
1 Having made a plain coil
fold the short end back
on itself to make a bight
and start to wrap round
the whole of the coil trap¬
ping the bight under the
turns.
2 Make several turns round
the rope coil and tuck the
remaining short end
through the bight.
3 Push the turns tight up
against the tucked end.
4 Finished coil
5 A self stopped coil. The
turns made with the rope
end doubled to give a
hanging loop.
6 A coil of Z laid rope coiled
correctly and held
together with stoppings
of fine line.
