Best Mattress Pad
A mattress pad is a type of bedding designed to lie on top of an existing mattress. They serve a
variety of purposes from providing comfort and insulation, to protecting your mattress from
spills, dust, and other damage. It is likely that you will buy several mattresses over your lifetime
and a mattress pad will considerably increase the longevity of your mattress enabling you to
save money on replacement costs. A mattress pad is important for improving the feel and
performance of a sub-par mattress and for providing an enhanced sleeping experience. There
are several types of mattress pads available and it is up to the buyer to be informed and consider
both the advantages and disadvantages before choosing the best mattress pad.
Typically, materials for the best mattress pads range from cotton, wool, down and feather ll, to
synthetic materials. Those looking to maximize comfort should invest in a memory foam
mattress pad. Memory foam mattress pads are among some of the best mattress pads available.
They are made of a viscos-elastic material that gives it subtle rmness and resiliency providing
comfort and support. These types of mattress pads are used in medical institutions for their
pressure relieving properties. The downside to this type is that they hold on to the sleeper’s
body heat. They are also relatively expensive and cost over two hundred dollars.
A less expensive option would be a common polyester lled mattress which generally costs less
than a hundred dollars and is also considered one of the best mattress pads available in the
market.
Some of the best mattress pads are water resistant and are used in cases where sleepers su er
from urinary incontinence. This is commonly used in beds for young children who are prone to
bed wetting. These mattress pads have a plastic backing that prevents the mattress from
absorbing liquid, thereby protecting it.
