INSS 630 INFORMATION SYSTEMS IN
ORGANIZATIONS

This course will introduce basic management information systems
concepts and examine the fundamental types of information systems.
Personal, work group and enterprise information systems will be
discussed. The challenge and use of information to gain competitive
advantage will be examined. Other topics to be discussed include: the
economics of information use of valued added concepts to evaluate
information system effectiveness, and the application of system theory
to information system architecture.
INSS 635 COMMUNICATIONS
THEORY
Former course number 535 Prerequisites: INSS 615 or

This course will provide the student with an in-depth analysis of the
theory of statistical communication, including applied probability,
stochastic processes, random noise theory, linear/nonlinear
operations, analysis systems, random inputs, and random parameters.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

The primary objective of this course is to provide students with an
overview of the principles of telecommunications. It will include the
following topics: application of telecommunications transmittal, data-
enhancing flow of information within the organization, identification of
opportunities to apply technology to support the organization,
terminology, hardware, and software analysis of needed specifications
for designing telecommunications systems.
