Howard W.
Blake Class
Of 1961
On July 2nd at 8 p.m., the Thomas Jefferson Class of 1977 and friends, along with classes of 1974-1979, will be hosting an “Old School Dance” at the Sons of Italy Lodge, 3315 West Lemon Street.
Beverly Wright Brin- son, and Sheila Harris Franklin, both Jefferson grads, are the coordinators and contact persons for the event.
“Some of us attended Webb Junior High School together,
and after graduating from high school, we all went our separate ways,” said Mrs. Brinson.
“The few of us who have stayed in contact with each other thought it would be a great idea to get all the schools together and have an all schools’ “Old School Music Dance.”
Mrs. Brinson said she had been away for a while and when she’d come home, she never saw any of her friends.
“This has been on my heart for 10 years. I asked who would be interested, and Bev- erly stepped in and we’ve put together a committee and some fundraisers to make this happen.
“We don’t want a funeral to be the thing that brings us all together. It’s approaching 40 years since we’ve graduated, and there’s so many of them I haven’t seen. A lot of the ones I have seen are suffering from various ailments, and that’s why this event is so impor- tant.”
Joining Mrs. Brinson and Mrs. Franklin in represent- ing their schools will be: Elaine Hobdy, Gail Nap- pier, Darlene Harris, Rhonda Pierce, June Green Williams, Carol Miller Pirant, Ollie Mad- dox Carter, Carolyn Cliatt Williams, and Elliott “Sonny” Birt.
