Drake Performs For Katrina Victims; Apple Threatens To Sue
DRAKE
Apple Music declared war on rival streaming service, Jay Z’s Tidal, over Drake’s appear- ance at a charity concert to ben- efit kids affected by Hurricane Katrina. Tidal faces being sued for $20 million if it streamed Apple artist Drake’s brief two- song appearance at the Friday night show.
Apple Music execs were not happy when Drake was con- firmed to perform at Lil Wayne’s Lil WeezyAna Fest in New Orleans Friday night, even though the festival benefits Tha Carter Fund, which supports after-school programs in Louisiana.
Lawyers were called in be- cause the event was being streamed live via Tidal — and Drake has an exclusive deal with Apple Music said to be worth up to $19 million. Sources say the tech giant threatened to sue for $20 mil- lion if Drake appeared, or if his music was streamed live, on Tidal.
“This event is for charity, Drake is doing two songs. Why does Apple think it can dictate to artists where and when they can perform?”
The deal includes an exclu- sive album release and to have the “Started From the Bottom” rapper as a guest DJ for iTunes Radio.
Drake, who is still signed to New Orleans native Lil Wayne’s Young Money Records, jumped at the chance to perform at the sold-out festi- val. Also lined up were Nicki Minaj and a reunion of Lil Wayne’s 1990s group, the Hot Boys.
Jay Z and Tidal execs had no choice but to cut the audio and video streaming of Drake’s ap- pearance at the event — but still planned on putting up a mes- sage blaming Drake’s deal with Apple for the rude inter- ruption to fans.
Nicole Murphy Talks About Her
Los Angeles – OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced a new primetime show from international movie star and platinum recording artist Tyrese Gibson and hip-hop icon, celebrated author and re- ality star Rev Run. After their successful collaboration on the New York Times bestselling Simon & Schuster book "Man- ology," the longtime friends are bringing "man school" to television sharing everything viewers need to know about men and love. The show is de- veloped and produced by CBS Television Distribution. The eight episode weekly series will debut in early 2016.
Often at odds with each other, ordained minister Rev Run (aka Joseph Ward Simmons) is 50, married and a father of six and grandfather of one, while Tyrese is a 36- year-old single father and one of People Magazine's sexiest men alive. These two unortho- dox "love and relationship ex- perts" will be joined by a primetime studio audience plus celebrity guests in a no- holds-barred relationship throw down. Social media platforms will take center stage galvanizing America to ask Tyrese and Rev Run their most intimate questions about men, relationships, marriage and sex.
In a new cover feature for Bombshell by Bleu magazine, Nicole Murphy does what she does best; flaunt her killer body and discuss her love life.
Eddie Murphy’s ex tells the publication that she’s sin- gle, she also questions the taboo dating of older women and younger men, and she sets straight rumors about her and Nick Cannon.
“We’re just friends. He’s a good guy but we’re just good friends, she said of Nick. “I see him, we say hi, we hang out. We grab something to eat, but that’s about it.”
Despite being the object of desire for many men, Nicole says she’s currently single and

“focusing on me.”
I’ve been in relationships for
quite a long time, so it’s nice to be single and do whatever I want,” Murphy said.
Although her engagement with Michael Strahan ended, Nicole confessed that she’s open to marrying again.

Angie Stone Hashes It Out With Her Daughter On Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Show
Angie Stone and her daughter, Diamond on the Bishop T. D. Jakes Show.
Oprah Winfrey And Eddie Murphy Will Join The Cast Of Richard Pryor Biopic
Earlier this year, Angie Stone was arrested after a physical fight with her 31-year- old daughter, Diamond. The gist of the spat was that Angie reprimanded Diamond (who lived with Angie at the time) for not cleaning up after her chil- dren. Angie says Diamond then attacked her, to which she defended herself by hitting her daughter in the face with a metal stand, knocking her tooth out.
Now, Angie and her daugh- ter are trying to hash out their broken relationship on (semi) national TV. On an episode of the “T.D. Jakes Show,” Dia- mond and Angie spoke about
the incident for the first time publicly.
In a clip, the chat got heated as mother and daughter dis- cuss their strained communica- tion. Diamond says, “Before you sit here and tell the world that I cursed you out, tell them why,” to which Angie replies, “But you don’t listen. I’m your mother and you never listen. But Diamond, I’m your mother.”
“The T.D. Jakes Show” is cur- rently in its test run in four cities Atlanta (2 p.m), Cleve- land (3 p.m), Minneapolis (2 p.m) and Dallas (3 p.m ) until Sept 11th.
Iconic comedian Richard Pryor will be played by Michael Epps.
Tribute To Micheal Jackson
The Weinstein Company is ready to greenlight its Richard Pryor biopic, and Harvey Weinstein and Lee Daniels put together a terrific cast.
The new additions: Oprah Winfrey will play Pryor’s grandmother, who ran a brothel and raised the iconic comic there; Eddie Murphy will play Pryor’s father, Leroy “Buck Carter” Pryor. Kate Hudson is set to play Pryor’s widow, Jen- nifer Lee Pryor.
Mike Epps is now locked to play Pryor, a role coveted by a lot of actors. Daniels, who worked with Weinstein and
Winfrey on the blockbuster Lee Daniels’ The Butler, will start production in March, after wrapping up the second season of his hit Fox series Empire.
The emergence of Epps was not unexpected, but it is hard not to like his backstory on this one. Deadline revealed in 2014 that Epps had emerged as the likely choice after a killer audition, one that was done for Daniels when Epps was competing against a crop of actors that included Michael B. Jordan, Mar- lon Wayans and Nick Can- non.
Jay Z apparently joined In- stagram on Saturday and posted a photo montage of himself with Michael Jack- son, who would have been 57 years old.
The photos in a new account under the name HovSince96 showed the 45-year-old rap legend wearing a New York Knicks jersey standing next to the King Of Pop and also em- bracing him.
'Happy Birthday to the King! This may be my first and last post,' read the caption.
Jay Z was spotted on Satur- day boarding a private jet bound for Los Angeles ahead of the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
His wife, Beyonce, 33, has
