Father Says Black Wisconsin Man Shot By Police Is Paralyzed
Byron Allen Drops $30M To Buy Honolulu ABC Affiliate
     The father of a Black man who was shot, apparently in the back, by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, says his son was left paralyzed from the waist down.
Jacob Blake's father told ABC News that he was told his son was shot eight times during the Sun- day evening confrontation with police, which was captured on cellphone video and led to two nights of unrest in the city be- tween Milwaukee and Chicago.
The father, who is also named Jacob Blake and who was driv- ing from Charlotte, North Car- olina, to Kenosha to be with his son, told the newspaper that he learned Sunday night that officers

had shot his son eight times and that he saw the video of it online a few minutes later.
He said his son now has "eight holes" in his body, and is para- lyzed from the waist down, though doctors don't know if the paralysis will be permanent.
Byron Allen’s Allen Media Broadcasting, a division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, is acquiring Honolulu ABC affiliate KITV from SJL Broadcasting for $30 million.
The media mogul plans to spend another $10 billion over the next two years to buy more network affiliates, per Yahoo.
The acquisition includes KITV’s satellite station and translators, including KHVO- ABC 13 in Hilo and KMAU- ABC-12 in Wailuku, as well as four digital cable networks — MeTV, Hawaii TV, Start TV

and Heroes & Icons, according to the report.
The acquisition brings the number of major network sta-
tions owned and/or operated by AMB to 16 in across 12 U.S. markets.
“Over the past year we’ve in- vested over $500 million to ac- quire best-in-class, top-tier, broadcast network affiliates,” Allen, founder, chairman and CEO of Allen Media Group, said in a statement. “We plan to invest approximately $10 billion to acquire more ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX television stations over the next two years with the goal of being the largest broadcast television group in America.”

Florida Adds More Than 2,500 COVID-19 Cases; Death Toll Past 10,500

Florida’s Department of Health on Tuesday confirmed 2,673 additional cases of COVID-19, bringing the state’s known total to 605,502. There were also 183 Florida resident deaths announced, bringing the resident death toll to 10,580.
There were no new non-res- ident deaths, leaving the non- resident toll at 137.
Tuesday is the third consec- utive day this week that the state has reported fewer than 3,000 new cases. Testing has
also been down.
On Tuesday, Florida’s De-
partment of Health reported the results of 43,524 people tested on Monday, making it the second lowest test count reported this month. The re- sults are for 2,079 fewer peo- ple than what the state reported Monday.
The lowest count was recorded on Aug. 16 with 39,167 tests. Many state-sup- ported testing sites were closed that weekend because of Trop- ical Storm Isaias.

A Michigan woman declared dead early Sunday morning was found very much alive hours later at a funeral home.
Timesha Beauchamp, a 20- year-old special needs woman from Southfield, suffered a heart attack Sunday morning at her home. According to local ABC af- filiate WXYZ, paramedics per- formed CPR and tried to revive her. But after 30 minutes, she was declared dead based on her “med- ical readings and condition,” the report states.
“They said, ‘Ma’am, she’s gone,‘” the woman’s mother told NBC af- filiate WDIV said. “I told them, ‘Are you absolutely, 100% sure that she’s gone?’ They said, ‘Yes, ma’am, she’s gone.‘”

to the James H. Cole Home for Funerals in Detroit, but after 90 minutes, staff discovered she was still alive.
“You could tell she was breath- ing,” Cole spokeswoman Jocelyn Allen said. “You can see a chest going up and down. They could see that.”
“They said, ‘Ma’am, your daughter is on her way to Sinai Grace Hospital. She is breathing. She is alive,’ ” Beauchamp’s mother said.
