Police Investigate Shooting Death Of Toddler
Woman Injures
Suspect Sought For Blowing Up His House
Tampa Police got a call at 4:12 p. m., Sunday of a shoot- ing at Clipper Bay Apart- ments, 6727 South Lois Avenue, in South Tampa.
When officers arrived, they found that a 17-month- old girl, Amaya Shafi, had suffered a gunshot wound. Her parents took her to the hospital where she was pro- nounced dead.
No arrests have been made or charges filed at this
Flare Gun
Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect in the first butane hash oil or marijuana wax ex- plosion in Pasco County.
On September 3rd, deputies said Steven Brown, 24, along with other accomplices, blew up his house at 6912 Alta Vista Street during the manufacturing of butane hash oil.
Deputies said the fire burned the house down, and Brown made the decision to grab his drugs and get out of the house instead of trying to save two caged dogs who died in the fire. Also, a 1-year-old was in the house at the time, but was not injured.
On September 9th, direct file warrants were issued for Brown’s arrest. On that same day, deputies said Brown fled from a traffic stop and
Police Officer Arrested On Domestic Battery Charge
On September 18th, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Of- fice arrested St. Petersburg Police Officer Curtis Wright on a charge of do- mestic battery.
Detectives said an alterca- tion between Wright and his live-in girlfriend occurred at their home on September 17th at 1:30 a. m.
Wright has been placed on administrative leave pend- ing the outcome of the inves- tigation.

At 12:26 p. m. Sunday, Tampa Police received a call of a woman with a weapon on the roof of a house threatening to harm herself.
The Tactical Response Team arrived at 2302 West Idlewild Avenue and for nearly two hours, tried to negotiate with the woman, who was armed with a flare gun and a rifle of some kind.
At 2:30 p. m., the 53-year- old woman, who wasn’t identi- fied, injured herself with the flare gun. Officers quickly re- moved the injured woman from the roof, and Tampa Fire Res- cue treated her at the scene. She was later transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

On September 19, 2016, Nick Julian, IV spoke to a 9- 1-1 operator and said he had been attacked by Carlos Gar- cia and he had to use force be- cause he was afraid for his life. Julian also told the operator he had shot Garcia.
Before 37-year-old Garcia, a father of three, had been de- clared dead Julian, 26, was on the phone with the U. S. Con- cealed Carry Association. They operate a 24-hour hotline an attorney on retainer, bail money, and a wallet-sized card instructing members on what to say after a shooting. The membership costs $13-per- month.
Officials said this associa- tion is one of a handful of or- ganizations who say they can help its members strengthen their claim of self-defense from the moment they pull the trig- ger.
Law enforcement officials are investigating the incident, and no charges have been filed at this time.

Brown is being sought on charges of possession of a place for purposes of manu- facturing a controlled sub- stance, arson, felonious possession of a firearm, pos- session of cocaine, and other charges.

Homeless Man Charged With Beating Another Man To Death

On Thursday, Sarasota Po- lice Chief Bernadette DiPino announced 35 people had been arrested in “Opera- tion Fresh Start,” an effort to target street level drug dealers.
The five-month investiga- tion started April 2016, and ended with the roundup on September 2nd.
In addition to the 35 ar- rests, police are still look for Glenford Bryan, 29, and Cordarryl Rogers, 28.

Bryant is being sought on a charge of sale of a counterfeit controlled substance. Rogers is being sought for sale of heroin within 1,000 feet of a park and sale of crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park.
Police also reported that of the 35 people arrested, 3 have been offered the opportunity for the deferred prosecution program due to the fact they have no previous crimes in- volving violence or firearms.

KENNETH DARLING .....beaten to death
Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office detectives have ar- rested a man for second-de- gree murder after he allegedly beat another man to death.
Detectives said at 1:55 p. m. September 15th, 41-year- old Kenneth Darling, and 51-year-old Bruce Wilson were drinking together at the end of 78th Avenue next to Blind Pass.

ical altercation and Wilson beat Darling in the head with his fists. Witnesses told detectives Wilson repeat- edly struck Darling in the face six to seven times.
When deputies arrived, he reported finding Darling lying on the ground unre- sponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wilson was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and transported to jail without incident.
