Ciara States That Future’s Social Media Attacks Made Her Lose Money
Kendrick Lamar And Rihanna Are Headliners At Free Festival In Central Park
The fifth annual Global Citizen Festival takes place on Septem- ber 24th on New York's famed Great Lawn at Central Park.
This year's headliners happen to be a couple of the biggest names in pop/hip-hop. Ri- hanna and Kendrick Lamar
are among top billed.
For those not aware, the
Global Citizen Festival is a free concert that aims to have fans take certain social action and initiatives-- with a long term goal of ridding the world of poverty.
Ciara and her ex-beau, Future Ciara may have found her
happily ever after with husband Russell Wilson, but that does- n’t mean she doesn’t have some unfinished business to tend to. The singer claims Future’s defamatory attacks on social media cost her a $500,000 pay- check.
The “Body Party” singer ini- tially filed a $15 million lawsuit against her ex in February for slander, and in support of her case, she’s provided additional documents stating she lost a half a million dollar cosmetic deal because the “Codeine Crazy” rapper tarnished her name on the Internet.
In the past, Ciara has also claimed her ex is unfit to raise their son due to his codeine ad- diction, and stated he fears the rapper will kill her husband.
Both arguments were dropped from their ongoing court battle. It’s uncertain whether these new documents will be accepted by the courts or tossed away as well.
Nelly’s debut album, Coun- try Grammar, has become just the eighth Hip Hop album to reach diamond certification, the RIAA have announced.
The organization presented Nelly with a diamond plaque at a Musicians On Call event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Monday.
As previously mentioned,
Mickey “Memphitz” Wright, the estranged hus- band of Toya Wright, opened up about his father being bru- tally murdered by a KKK mem- ber in his hometown of Memphis. The emotional mo- ment came out during an episode of Marriage Bootcamp Friday (July 22).
The couples on the WE-TV reality show were asked to share traumatic experiences from childhood when Mem- phitz shared his story.
“I already come up in a racist town, so it’s like for a racist KKK member to kill my dad, I have a fuse so short, it’s not good,” he admitted.
His father, Mickey Wright Sr., was a 46-year-old code en- forcement officer last seen on April 7, 2001, following a visit to a car lot to write a citation.
Dale V. Mardis, a white gun dealer and auto sales owner, killed Mickey Sr. in what the Department of Justice classified as a “racially moti-
there have been just seven other Hip Hop albums to achieve the diamond mile- stone, which marks ten million records sold.
In addition, four of those al- bums have come from two artists — Tupac and Eminem — meaning Nelly becomes just the sixth Hip Hop artist to achieve diamond status.

Mickey Sr. was dismem-
bered with pieces of his body burned in a 55-gallon drum, while remaining body parts were placed in various junk- yard cars and crushed.
It took three years for Mardis to be arrested for Mickey Sr.’s murder. He pleaded no contest to the charges. Mardis was initially offered a plea deal to serve 15 years, but a federal civil rights trial put him behind bars for life, in 2011.

Dr. Dre was handcuffed outside his Malibu, Calif., home Monday after a white driver called police and said he was brandishing a gun.
According to the Los Ange- les County Sheriff’s Office, Dre told the cops that the man was blocking his driveway and refused to move after being asked. But he denied making the threats the driver accused him of. The driver initiated a private person’s arrest on
Dre, officials say.
“Due to the nature of the
call, the person was searched, handcuffed, and briefly de- tained in a patrol car while deputies investigated the inci- dent,” Sheriff’s Capt. Chris Reed said of Dr. Dre.
TMZ posted video of Dre undergoing a search, to which he complied. Authorities also said Dre was taping the inci- dent on his cellphone before the police arrived.
