Historical Marker For St. Peter Claver Catholic School
Tampa Representatives Attend NCNW National Convention
The St. Peter Claver Alumni Association will host the Unveiling and Dedication of the Hillsborough County Historical Marker of St. Peter Claver Catholic School by the County Commissioners. This event will take place at the school, located on the corner of Scott and Governor Sts., on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at10a.m.Thisisacommu- nity event that all are invited to witness. Refreshments will follow the ceremony.
The school is celebrating
its continued existence of 122 years of providing quality ed- ucation in the Tampa Bay area.
St. Peter Claver was estab- lished in 1894 with the pur- pose of educating African American youth in the Tampa Bay area.
Parking is available on the school grounds off Kay St.

The National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), In- corporated, held its 57th Bi- Annual National Convention in Washington, DC during October. Many of the sessions were held at the Grand Hyatt.
The very large number of those in attendance repre- sented primarily all states in the United States, as well as those from international areas. There were Sections from National Affiliate Organ- izations, National Community Based Sections, Collegiate Sections, Youth Sections, and Life Members Guilds.
Delegates and others from the Tampa Metropolitan Sec- tion included: Rosa M. Cambridge, current Presi- dent; Tempress Solomon, Past President; Gloria W. Davis, Minnie L. Sullivan and Sandra Hill.
The theme was “Fortified by the Past...Focused on the Future.” The itinerary in- cluded registration, member- ship recruitment and retention workshops, town hall meetings, election of offi- cers and committee chairs, who were later installed by the Honorable Alexis Her-

The plenary session dealt with updating and amending the National by-laws. The keynote speakers provided and addressed major issues and information that were well received.

The next Bi-Annual Na- tional NCNW Convention will be held in 2018.
Book Signing To Be Held Saturday
Seafood Store Has Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
On Saturday, November 5th at 12 noon, Good Earth Meat and Seafood held a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for their location at 5012 East Broadway, in the blue building behind Church’s Chicken and Salem’s Gyros.
