First Touchdown In Buccaneer History Dies
Will Be Blacked
Message About Mo’ne Davis;
Vince Kendrick, a full- back out of the University of Florida, scored the first touchdown in the history of the Tampa Bay Buccaneer franchise.
On Saturday, Kendrick died after a long battle with cancer. He was 63.
Kendrick was one of the first African American players at the University of Florida, and played under Coach Doug Dickey from 1971 to 1973. After he retired from the NFL, Kendrick served as a running backs coach at the University of Florida under Coach Charley Pell from 1979 to 1983.
Kendrick was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the fourth round of the 1974 draft. In 1976, he was selected

On Monday, the National Football League’s team owners voted for a one-year suspen- sion of the-standing blackout policy for the preseason and regular season.
Last season, there were no blackouts, because the mini- mum number of tickets were sold for every game and only two blackouts occurred in 2013.
This experiment is a huge step for the NFL, who started their policy of blacking out games decades ago. With ticket sales low in cities like Jacksonville, Oakland and San Diego, the NFL is taking a game for this season.
Over the weekend a Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania baseball player took to Twitter to call 13-year- old Mo’ne Davis, the star pitcher who shook up the Lit- tle League tournament, a derogatory name.
“Disney is making a movie about Mo’ne Davis? WHAT A JOKE. That [s--t] got rocked by Nevada,” Joey Casselberry tweeted.
It didn’t take long for the university to announce that Casselberry had been booted from the team.
On Monday, Mo’ne and her coach emailed the Bloomsburg University presi-

dent and asked that Cassel-
berry’s dismissal be recon- sidered.
“While Bloomsburg says they respect Davis’ opinion and praise her for being in- credibly mature about the sit- uation—the school will NOT reinstate the player.

by the Bucs in the NFL expan- sion draft, and scored on a 1- yard run during a 10-6 preseason loss against the Green Bay Packers.
Kendrick became the first player to get cut by the Bucs in the regular season when he was released after the first game of the season.
Kendrick lived in Deer- field Beach at the end of his coaching career.

Suggs Owes
$178K
The Chicago Bears have reached agreement on a one- year contract with free-agent defensive end Ray McDon- ald, the team said Tuesday.
Terms of the agreement, which is pending McDonald passing a physical exam, are not yet known.
McDonald was released by the San Francisco 49ersin December after law enforce- ment officials in San Jose, California, said he was under investigation on suspicion of

sexual assault.
McDonald hasn't been
charged in that case, which remains open.
A Virginia court ruled that Terrell Suggs owes over $178K in commissions to the estate of his deceased agent Gary Wichard.
A court in Virginia ruled Tuesday that Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs owes his former agent Gary Wichard, who died more than four years ago, more than $178,000 in com- missions from his 2013 season paychecks.
Wichard had negotiated Suggs' five-year contract, which went from 2009 through 2013. Suggs paid Wichard in 2009 and 2010 and after Wichard suddenly passed away in March 2011; he continued to pay his estate for the commissions associated with the 2011 and 2012 sea- sons.
But Suggs filed a griev- ance with the NFL Players As- sociation, which monitors player-agent conduct, after he failed to pay commissions for the 2013 season. Although the contract he signed with Wichard said that the agent was entitled to a three percent commission, Suggs felt that Wichard obviously wasn't performing any services for him, which was included in the contract. Suggs said when he won Defensive Player Of The Year in 2011; he left marketing deals on the table since Wichard wasn't there to ne- gotiate for him. He also didn't seek to renegotiate his con- tract.
African-American swim- mers took the top three fin- ishes in a single event at the Women's Division 1 NCAA Championship last weekend.
Freshman phenom Si- mone Manuel of Stanford set an NCAA, American, U.S. Open, Championship and Pool record when she clocked a time of 46.09 in the women's 100 yard freestyle.
Manuel's Stanford team- mate Lia Neal came in sec- ond place with a time of 47.13. (Fans may recall that Neal won a bronze medal in the 4x100 free relay at the 2012 Olympic Games in Lon- don.)
Simone Manuel and Lia Neal of Stanford finished #1 and #2. And UF’s Natalie Hinds finished 3rd.
The University of Florida's Natalie Hinds swam a time of 47.24. Hinds reset her own-school record in the event during competi- tion.
Seattle, Wilson Working On Extension
Seahawks general man- ager John Schneider reit- erated Monday that the team hopes to work out a contract extension for quarterback Russell Wilson during this offseason, but he didn't go into details of the negotia- tions.
Schneider also men- tioned middle linebacker Bobby Wagner and offen- sive tackle Russell Okung as team priorities for contract extensions.
"Russell is a guy that wants to win championships for a long time,'' Schneider said.”He has a good under- standing of the business. That being said, we are basically in what we call Phase 2 of free agency. His people are aware that we want to help out our club as much as we can."
"But we have to be very careful how we step with our [salary] cap moving forward,''
RUSSELL WILSON
Schneider said.”We know those guys are such instru- mental pieces."
There has been a great deal of speculation that Wil- son could get the first all- guaranteed contract, but that now appears unlikely when the new deal is completed, an extension that likely will top $100 million overall.
Schneider said the Sea- hawks hope to work out Wil- son's situation similar to what was done last offseason with cornerback Richard Sherman and free safety Earl Thomas.
