Got Junk
Disposing of old furniture, appliances, mattresses, tires,
and other hefty junk is easy in Hillsborough County. Residents each year may discard up to 10 cubic yards - about 3,000 pounds - of materials that are too big for regular curbside pick- ups, and up to a dozen tires.
Hillsborough County Solid Waste accepts the weighty trash as part of residents' annual as- sessments for solid waste dis- posal. To drop off junk, residents must have a photo ID and a copy of their latest prop- erty tax bill. People who don't own property in the county may take junk to any Solid Waste fa-
cility with a scale house, where they will pay about $7 per 200 pounds to unload junk. If you don't want to haul large items to a dumping facility, you can re- quest a special bulky waste col- lection at your curb for fees generally ranging from $15 to $125, depending on the number of items and their size
