Former Officer Extradited To Face Charges In Murder Of Pregnant Girlfriend
Grieving Ohio Parents Place Warning In Daughter’s Funeral Notice
When 18-year-old Allison Shuemake died recently, her parents, Dorothy and Fred, could have kept the cause a se- cret. But according to Cleve- land.com the Middletown, Ohio couple chose the rare step of publicizing her heroin over- dose in hopes of shining some light on the drug plague that is claiming so many lives in their area. They said they were nei- ther ‘ashamed or guilty' in stat- ing the drug death in the first sentence of her funeral notice. Fred Shuemake, a retired Middletown police detective, says he believes his daughter was ‘dabbling’ in heroin. Ac- cording to the website, Allison had previously been in rehab for alcohol and marijuana use. She had recently taken on two jobs and moved in with her

In case you missed that, Cormega Copening, 17, is being charged as an adult and facing a decade in prison for possessing naked photos of himself and his 16-year-old girlfriend, even though the legal age of consent in North Carolina is 16.
"In North Carolina you are considered an adult at 16 years old as far as being charged," Sgt. Sean Swain of the Cum- berland County Sheriff's De- partment said. "But to disseminate and receive sexu-

Police discovered the sexu- ally explicit photos as they were investigating another incident. Police reportedly found naked photos of Copening and his girlfriend on both of the teens' phones. While both teens were charged as adults, the Atlanta Blackstar reports that Copen- ing's girlfriend took a plea deal and was sentenced to "one year of probation without access to a phone, a $200 fine, and a class on making smarter life decisions."

Clark's lawyer has denied his involvement. Online jail records did not indicate an at- torney for Watson.
