Kraft Recall Of Cheese Slices Just Got Huge
Splinter Removal
If you get a splinter in your finger, cut a square piece from a banana peel and put it white-side down on the splinter area. Cover the area with a bandage. The enzymes in the peel will draw out the splinter.
If you don’t have a banana handy, spread Elmer’s glue on the splinter area, let it dry and peel it off and the splinter will hopefully be attached to the glue!
If you thought you were safe from the last Kraft recall of cheese, you may want to take a closer look at the packages on your cheese now. The Kraft Sin- gles recall just became about 10 times larger.
What first included about 36,000 packages of the product recalled due to a sliver of plastic film staying attached to the cheese has now become over 335,000.
The plastic film presents a choking hazard and comes after the initial recall by Kraft Heinz at the end of July.
The products affected in- clude Kraft Singles American and White American cheese products in 1, 2 and 4-pound packages. The recalled items were sold in the U.S., and 10 other countries.
Here’s a detailed list:
– 4-lb. Kraft Singles Ameri- can
– 3-lb. Kraft Singles Ameri- can (3 1-lb. packages)
– 4-lb. Kraft Singles White American
– 3-lb. Kraft Singles White American
– 1-lb. Kraft Singles White American
– 1-lb. Kraft Singles
– 3-lb. Deli Deluxe Kraft American Singles
– 3-lb. Kraft Singles Ameri- can (72 individually-wrapped Singles in cardboard carton)
All of the recalled products are stamped with a “Best When Used By” date between DEC 15 and FEB 16, except for the Deli Deluxe Kraft American Singles which are dated JAN 16 through MAR 16. They also have code S54 or S 55 stamped after the date.
Kraft says only products with the S54 and S55 codes, which refer to the two production lines where the items were made, are included in the recall.
A complete list of affected items, including those first re- called in July, is posted on Kraft’s official website.
Consumers can return the product for a full refund, ac- cording to the company.
10 Tips To Care For Your Lenses (And Eyes!)
More than 30 million Ameri- cans wear contacts. Although contact lenses have come a long way and are generally pretty safe to wear, there’s still a risk of eye infection and permanent eye damage if you fail to follow the proper guidelines when caring for them.
If you’re thinking about mak- ing the switch from glasses to contacts soon, welcome to the club, but just know that it will take some getting used to. Here are 10 ways to keep your eyes healthy while wearing contacts.
1. Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water be- fore inserting and removing your contact lenses.
2. Use a lent-free towel when
drying your hands after wash- ing.
3. Always rinse, rewet and store your contact lenses using fresh solution – NOT water.
4. Clean your contact lens case often and replace it every few months to prevent bacteria from building up.
5. Never wear your contact lenses longer than prescribed.
6. Never sleep or take a nap in your contact lenses unless
you have the type that is safe enough to sleep in, but even then, be cautious.
7. Never touch the tip of the contact lens solution. You could contaminate it with germs.
8. If you store your contact lenses in solution for more than 10 days, dispose of them and the solution and start fresh. Of course, read the directions on the back of your contact lens so- lutions to know exactly what to do.
9. Get regular eye exams. Un- less you have diabetes or glau- coma, most people can get away with one visit per year.
10. Do not wear decorative contact lenses. These can lead to permanent eye damage.
