After 36 Years In Prison:
Man Continues To Seek Justice
BY LEON B. CREWS Sentinel Staff Writer
Michael Little will be the first to tell you that he’s made a lot of bad decisions in his life. As a teenager, he spent time at the A.P. Dozier School that has since been shut down and is being investigated.
After leaving Dozier, life didn’t get any easier for Little as he found himself in-and- out of jail on an assortment of
charges.
“I’ll be the first to tell you
that I brought all of that on myself. With that said, it does- n’t make it right for me to be convicted twice for the same crime.
“I was given two 30-year sentences for the same of- fense, and it wasn’t until after I’d served 6 years on the sec- ond 30-year sentence the error was found and I was re- leased.”
MICHAEL LITTLE
Little said he feels 36 years were stolen from his life, and he wants compensation, an apology, and for the records to be set straight.
Little says he has docu- ments to prove he was un- justly sentenced to a second 30-year prison term, and also he has proof the statute was changed along with the origi- nal charge.
“You can’t defend being wrong when the proof is in
front of you in black and white. It’s a good thing I was able to retrieve copies of everything throughout my or- deal.
“What I’m seeking now is an attorney who can help me with this case. I know its com- plex, and will probably take some time to sort out, but I’m patient. Afterall, I just fin- ished spending 36 years in prison, so I think I can wait a little bit.”
