Clippers’ Branden Dawson Arrested On Suspicion Of Spousal Abuse
BRANDEN DAWSON
LOS ANGELES — Los Ange- les Clippers forward Branden Dawson has been arrested on suspicion of spousal abuse.
Los Angeles Police Officer Rosario Herrera says the 23-year-old player was taken into custody around 7:30 a.m. Sunday at a residence in the Playa Vistaarea, where the team’s practice facility is lo- cated on the city’s west side.
He was released on $50,000 bail about six hours later. Her- rera didn’t immediately know if Dawson has an attorney.
A Clippers spokesman said the team had no immediate comment on Dawson’s ar- rest.
No further details have been released.
Chris Bosh Says He Has No Active Blood Clots, Hopes To Return
CHRIS BOSH
Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh, who has been out since the All-Star break with an undisclosed calf injury, said he doesn’t have any active blood clots and he is hopeful that he can return this year to the surging Heat.
There was concern that Bosh, who missed the end of the 2015 season after a blood clot ultimately moved to his lungs, might have to miss the remainder of the season but he tweeted this past weekend that he was “feeling great.” He’s also been working out with Miami’s training staff.
“I know there have been many questions regarding my health and when I will play again,” Bosh said in a state- ment. “My situation this year has never been life threaten- ing. I am feeling great and cur- rently do not have deep vein thrombosis. Together with the Miami Heat I am working with doctors, exploring the best pre- cautionary treatment options, and taking every necessary step to make sure I’m healthy for myself, my family and my team. ... I remain positive that I will be able to return this sea- son.”

Golf-Course Project ‘Moving
In The Right Direction’
Tiger Woods spent a day recently in Thompson’s Sta- tion, Tenn., where he is con- sidering designing a golf course on 1,229 acres as part of a project by Dallas-based Beacon Land Development.
Woods liked what he saw on March 4, Beacon president Mike Abbott said, and re- mains open to working on the project that is part of a $150 million mixed-use golf com- munity called Two Farms at Thompson’s Station.
Tiger Says He’s Chipping And Putting, But Has No Timetable On Return
Tiger Woods is competing on the golf course again.
Against his son, Charlie.
Woods, who hasn’t played a competitive round of golf on the PGA Tour since August as he continues to recover from two back surgeries since Sep- tember, announced Wednes- day on his website that he’s chipping and putting again, often going mano a mano against Charlie, 7, in chip- ping contests in their back yard in Jupiter, Fla.
“The loser has to do push- ups,” said Woods, who added

that the longest club he’s hit is a 9-iron. “My short game feels pretty sharp.”
While Woods said he is improving, the winner of 14 majors and 79 Tour events re- mains a long shot to play in the Masters in April, where he has won four green jackets. Woods missed the Masters two years ago because of his first surgery and tied for 17th last year. The Masters is five weeks away.
Woods, 40, last played in August when he tied for 10th in the Wyndham Champi- onship. In mid-September, he had his second microdisec- tomy surgery – the first com- ing March 31, 2014. He then had another surgery to his back – Woods did not dis- close the type of procedure – on Oct. 31.
Derek Fisher Speaks Out On Matt Barnes Altercation, Knicks’ Firing
A month after he was fired by the New York Knicks and five months after his alterca- tion with former teammate Matt Barnes, Derek Fisher published a story in Sports Il- lustrated’s “The Cauldron” to give his side of the story
Truth, the title of the mem- oir, was written to “set the record straight on [his] tenure with the New York Knicks and the Matt Barnes situation.’“
He touches on why he be- lieves he was fired from the Knicks, his altercation with Barnes, and his relationship with Gloria Govan — Barnes’ estranged wife.
On his firing
“First, let’s address this idea that I lost my job because of certain “character” or “in- tegrity” issues. Not only is any such insinuation untrue, it’s downright offensive.”
“When the organization in- formed me of its decision, the conversation was short. The underlying message was that things weren’t working out the way they had hoped. I thanked management for the opportu- nity, and that was it.
On Incident With Barnes
When addressing what he says really happened with Barnes back in October in Los Angeles, Fisher starts off
DEREK FISHER
by putting the “rumors” re- garding their history to bed, saying that the only history that they have was from play- ing together for the Lakers in 2010-11 and some of the 2011- 12 season. “That’s it,” he says.
I don’t know what was going through Matt’s mind that day in October when he showed up unannounced at Gloria’s house, and started swinging. I didn’t retaliate. No one who was there did any- thing but try to get him to calm down, particularly because Matt and Gloria’s children were present. There was no fight. That’s it. There’s nothing more to what happened than that.
I know I’m not perfect. I’m human and flawed. I’ve failed. I have shortcomings. Every- body does. That being said, I’ve been in the NBA and the public eye for 20 years. Plenty of people know me well, and they know my true character. I would not have been allowed to lead the teams I led without the character and integrity I possess.

Calipari: ‘We’ve Got The Toughest Path’
LEXINGTON, Ky. – John Calipari knew what was coming.
Throughout the South- eastern Conference tourna- ment his public comments appeared to be directed at the NCAA tournament selec- tion committee as much as reporters. He all but guaran- teed his team would be “awarded” a No. 4 seed, de- spite a strong finish and SEC title game win over Texas A&M.
Kentucky enters the tour- nament as the No. 4 seed in the East Region (Philadel-

phia) and will open with a game against No. 13 seed Stony Brook in Des Moines, Iowa. If seeds hold, Kentucky would face No. 5 seed Indi- ana in the second round and No. 1 seed North Carolina in the Sweet 16.
