Governor Makes Two Judicial Appointments

JUDGE JARED E. SMITH
JUDGE ALISSA ELLISON
Governor Ron DeSan- tis has named two people to fill vacancies in the 13th Cir- cuit Court. Both appointees previously served as Hillsbor- ough County judges.
Alissa Ellison, 39, of Tampa, has served as a Hills- borough County Judge since April 2018 and previously served as a shareholder at GrayRobinson.
She received her bache- lor’s degree from Florida State University and her law degree from Stetson Univer- sity College of Law.
Ellison fills the vacancy
created by the resignation of
Judge Chet Tharpe. Jared Smith, 44, of Lutz, *has served as a Hills- borough County Judge since March of 2017. He previously served as a partner at Rum- berger, Kirk and Caldwell as well as a Captain in the Air
Force.
He received his bachelor’s
degree from Fort Hays State University and his law degree from Washburn University School of Law.
Smith fills the vacancy created by the confirmation of Judge Tom Barber.
