Police are investigating more than 20 burglaries that have taken place since May 2019. Several of the burglaries are believed to be related.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the rash of burglaries in South Tampa began in May. All of the bur- glaries have taken place on weekdays and the burglars seem to only be interested in jewelry. Other valuable items have been ignored, police said.
The suspects have targeted the neighborhoods of Beach Park, Davis Island, and Palma Ceia. In each case, cash and other valuables have been taken. However, the suspects are concentrating on expen- sive jewelry. So far, hundreds of thousands of dollars in jew- elry has been taken from the homes.
In each case, the suspects entered the residence forcibly from the back. In 10 of the 23 cases being investigated, the suspects searched bedrooms where jewelry might be stored and fled without taking any-

thing. In a couple of cases, they fled after triggering a burglar alarm.
In another instance, the suspects removed a safe full of valuables from a home and fled with it. Police believe that there is more than one suspect and that they may be working together to commit the crimes.
Beginning in the spring of 2016, a series of burglaries took place in South Tampa. In
those cases, the suspects also concentrated on expensive jewelry. On August 17, 2016, a woman and two men from South Florida were arrested and charged.
Police are urging residents to take steps to protect their property and to call (813) 231- 6130 to report suspicious per- sons or vehicles.
Two Charged With Bringing Drugs Into Jail
Police have arrested two people and charged them with bringing a controlled substance into the Pinellas County Jail. The investigation began on May 14, 2019, after detectives re- ceived information about drug dealing going on in the jail.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, after re- ceiving the tip, detectives launched their investigation. They have accused Ms. An- toinette Leshawn Monroe, 26, of mailing suboxone to her boyfriend, 28-year-old Jason Javante Davis. Once re- ceived, Davis is alleged to have sold the drugs to other inmates.
On May 31, 2019, detectives received information that sub- oxone strips were going to be included in that day’s mail. De- tectives searched the mail and found one envelope containing two suboxone strips. Two more strips were found in another en- velope on June 4, 2019.
A forensic analysis identi- fied Ms. Monroe as the sender of the envelopes, police said. On September 24th, Ms. Monroe was detained during a traffic stop. Police said marijuana and morphine were found in her

possession. She was arrested and charged with four counts of possession of a controlled sub- stance, two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, two counts of introduction of con- traband into a detention facil- ity, and driving with a suspended license.
Davis was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of delivery of a con- trolled substance, and two counts of introduction of con- traband into a detention facil- ity.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Davis sold approximately $600 worth of suboxone while housed in the Pinellas County Jail.
