Bucks Fined $50K For Comments About Antetokounmpo’s Contract
GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO
The Milwaukee Bucks have every intention of paying Gian- nis Antetokounmpo as much money as they possibly can to convince him to finish his ca- reer with the team, but appar- ently they are not allowed to say that publicly.
On Tuesday, the NBA an- nounced that the Bucks have been fined $50,000 for com- ments general manager John Hurst made about the team’s plan to offer Giannis a super- max contract extension next summer. NBA rules state that they are not allowed to talk publicly about that yet, even though Antetokounmpo is their own player.

Silence Critics With
Another Elite Win Saturday
The New England Patriots withheld Antonio Brown’s scheduled bonus payment on Monday, setting up a likely clash that will determine whether the franchise is liable for guaranteed money in their former receiver’s contract fol- lowing his release earlier this month.
The withheld $5M pay- ment was the first installment toward the $9M signing bonus Brown was due to receive under the terms of his one-year contract with the Patriots, with a second installment due in January, Pro Football Talk re- ported, citing a source with

Errol Spence, Jr. is so physically gifted inside a box- ing ring, so comfortable, so much at home, that even a whitewash victory over an elite, unbeaten and highly re- garded opponent isn’t enough to satisfy his critics who, nearly seven years after his pro debut, continue to ask, “What has he done?”
In his pay-per-view debut, Spence not only won every round in his showdown with Mikey Garcia at AT&T Sta- dium in March, he dominated so thoroughly that there were next-to-no highlights of the previously unbeaten Garcia.
Taking an excellent fighter and beating him so decisively that he looks ordinary, or worse, is one sign of an elite fighter. Spence’s résumé, though, doesn’t turn many on. He’s 25-0 with 21 knockouts and still not the owner of a sig- nature win if the critics are to

Spence has the opportu-
nity on Saturday at Staples Center in Los Angeles to re- mind those who question his résumé why he is so highly re- garded by so many in the in- dustry, when he meets Shawn Porter in an IBF-WBC welter- weight title unification bout.

Final Moments Before Former College
Quarterbacks
Dallas police released door- bell camera footage Tuesday showing the moments before the former college basketball star Andre Emmett was shot and killed.
The video from Monday’s shooting shows a group of men yelling at Emmett as he steps out of his SUV. It then shows the former Texas Tech Red Raiders player bolting down the street. Another angle shows men approaching Em- mett at his vehicle before he

Usually Regress After
Historic Seasons;
Basketball Star Was Gunned Down
Not Patrick Mahomes.
Patrick Mahomes had one of the NFL’s greatest quar- terback seasons in his first year as a starter in 2018. We would have expected him to falter a bit after such a season, as has been the case with other his- toric passing performers. Ma- homes not regressing, he's actually getting better. Scary!
Last season, Mahomes threw 50 touchdown passes, tied for the second-most ever in NFL history. He is one of only seven quarterbacks in his- tory to exceed 5,000 passing yards in a single season. Kansas City’s 565 points scored were third-most in NFL his- tory.
You’d think there would be nowhere to go but down. After

all, no QB who has tossed even 40 touchdowns in a season has ever thrown more the following year. And the average dropoff in touchdowns has been 18.8.
But who says gravity always wins? Mahomes is on pace for 53 touchdowns and — hold on to your hats — 6,373 passing yards.
