  Tax Collector Doug Belden Decides Not To Run For 6th Term
 Hillsborough County Tax Collector, Doug Belden, announced last week that he will not be seeking re-election for a 6th 4-year term. In a news arti- cle published last week, Belden cited declining health as his reasons for not seeking another term. His current term ends January 3, 2021.
Belden, 66 years old, was elected as the county’s Tax Collector in 1998. At the time, he said his goal was to save taxpayer dollars

Earlier in the year, Belden announced that his health had improved con- siderably, and there were goals he wanted to com- plete in the office, therefore he would seek re-election. However, earlier in the month he withdrew from the race.
In his re-election bid, Belden has received more than $211,000 in contribu- tions.
    Special Called School Board Meeting
 Update on results from Superintendent Search Survey
The Hillsborough County School Board will hold a special called School Board meeting on Wednes- day, October 2, at 10 a. m. for an update on the Super- intendent Search.
Ray and Associates, the firm hired by the School Board to conduct a nation- wide search, will provide an update on the results and feedback from the recent
Superintendent Search Sur- vey and the four Community Forums. The School Board will also be providing input on advertising materials and a job profile to begin the na- tionwide search.
The meeting will take place in the School Board Auditorium located at 901 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa and will be broadcast live on Hillsborough Schools TV and livestreamed on the in- ternet at hillsborough- schools.tv
