They Won’t Let Us Live In Peace
I have a problem. Not a major one. But, it feels significant enough that it
warrants addressing.
I decided to come for-
ward in hopes that anyone who may be dealing with the same issue would feel com- pelled to admit that they're as fed up as I am.
And, because of our mu- tual dilemma, we could pos- sibly come up with a solution that will help us, and anyone else affected, deal with the nearly inescapable and insuf- ferable presence of individu- als we commonly refer to as "jackasses."
Everyone reading this should be familiar with this character. The often inap- propriate, rude, loud and way too talkative male or fe- male who seems to never know when to keep it down.
That person whose pres- ent at almost every activity we attend, whether it be school, work, church, the movie theatre, etc..., and who never misses an opportunity to burn our ears with non- sense we could care less about.
Over the years I've tried everything to make any un- avoidable interaction with one of these pathetic individ- uals as painless as possible. But, unfortunately, nothing appears to work.
It doesn't seem to matter whether or not you ignore them, pacify their arrogance or go as far as to actually rea- son with one of these miser- able souls, there's no way to lessen the potency of their aggravating demeanor.
It is almost as if they can sense our contempt and have the ability to feed off the ha- tred.
After an encounter with one of these creeps, I often sit back and wonder about things like, where do they come from? Are they even human? Or, are they the cre- ation of some secret govern- ment lab experiment designed to drive us insane?
The only thing that makes sense is that maybe God purposely sprinkled these bothersome a--holes among us for His own amusement, while testing our patience. Much in the
same way we used to get a kick out of knocking down dirt mounds and watching the ants panic when we were kids.
Regardless of how they came to be, though, the bot- tom line is that enough is enough. As far as I'm con- cerned, it's time to end the ir- ritation. And the only way I can see it happening is through some type of blunt intervention.
Instead of beating around the bush and ducking them at every turn, it may be a bet- ter strategy to simply give it to them blood raw by telling them, "look man, I'm not feeling you. Even the sound of your voice makes my skin crawl. I don't care what you think. I don't care what you think you know. I don't care who did what to whom or you. I'm tired of hearing you complain, whine and gossip.
"Miss me with the B.S. and the next time you see me coming, act like you don't see me and keep it pushing."
I know it sounds harsh. And it may not even stop them from being aggravat- ing. But, if we all collectively confront every one of them the same way, it will defi- nitely give them a lot less places to unload the crap that they typically carry.

     A Reality Check
hen President Barack Obama was elected, someone
coined the term “Post Racial,” to describe their be- lief that America had solved its race relations problems. Ob- viously, some Black people thought the same thing.
Well, we believe America needs a reality check to remind us all that “old racists never die. They just raise young racists.” The election of a president who stimulates racial, sexist, religious, and transgender hatred has caused millions to come out of the closet and remind us that America has re- ally not changed much.
The following incidents should arouse our awareness and influence our actions.
An Anti-Defamation League report showed that 20% of Americans have anti-Semitic views, a decline from 29% in 1964. Does that mean that it took 54 years for people’s atti- tudes to change by less than two percent each decade?
Does that mean it will be the year 2120 (one hundred years) before America rids itself of hatred of Jews. Yet, just recently, a Las Vegas man was arrested for planning a mass shooting of synagogues in Las Vegas. He also had plans to at- tack a fast food restaurant and a bar that catered to the LGBTQ community.
Sadly, there is an epidemic of violent attacks and deaths of transgender Black women. There is an increase in violent attacks in Texas, Florida (Jacksonville), Louisiana, North Carolina and South Carolina. Of the 21 transgender deaths reported thus far, 90% were Black or Hispanic and 10% were white.
A number of noose incidents have taken place in Ameri- can schools. Several teachers used nooses in the classroom to take pictures of the students. Moreover, several incidents by college students in Illinois and New York involved the placement of a noose and a Black doll in the residence hall elevators. In New Hampshire, an eight-year-old boy was nearly lynched by a group of white teens who were yelling racial slurs.
Racial hatred has become so blatant until a City Council candidate in Maryville, Michigan stated that she “wanted to keep Maryville a white community as much as possible.”
Yes, those of us who have worked to improve race rela- tions must pass the gauntlet onto our children and grandchil- dren.
May God grant them the will and the skill to finish what we’ve begun.
