6 Candidates Vying For City Council District 7 Seat

Six Tampa residents have filed as candidates for the City of Tampa Special Elec- tion. The candidates are competing to fill the vacancy on the City Council.
Ms. Lisa Montelione
was elected to serve the resi- dents in District 7. However, she stepped down to run against Shawn E. Harri- son, incumbent State Repre- sentative for District 63.
So far, six people have filed for the position with the Hillsborough County Super- visor of Elections. The dead- line to qualify for the position is September 9, 2016.
The special Municipal Election will be held concur- rently with the regular Gen- eral Election in which citizens will elect the new President of the United States. The election will take place on Tuesday, November 8th.

If none of the candidates receive 50% of the vote, then a runoff election will be held on December 6th.
The candidates are:
Dr. Jim Davison, a physician and former candi- date for the Hillsborough County Board of Commis- sioners.
Orlando Gudes, a re- tired Tampa Police officer, who is also active with the Unity Little League football organization.
Ms. Avis Harrison is the only woman who has filed for the office to date. She is a native of the Panhan- dle and served as an educator in Escambia County.
Gene Siudut is an Assis- tant Newspaper Editor at the La Gaceta newspaper.
Alexander Cyril Spiro
is a health care Data Analyst.
Attorney Luis E. Viera
is a practicing attorney. District 7 includes New Tampa, Forest Hills, Terrace Park, and the University of
South Florida area.
