Baltimore Police Kill Young Mother, Wound Son After Standoff
BALTIMORE, MD -- Days after all 6 police officers were acquitted in the death of Fred- die Gray, Baltimore police of- ficers entered Korryn Shandawn Gaines’ apart- ment building with the intent of carrying out arrest warrants on Gaines and an unidentified male. What ensued was a shoot out that left her dead, a child injured and a police depart- ment treading carefully through an onslaught of ques- tions and speculation.
Reportedly, a bench warrant for Gaines’ arrest had been is- sued following her failure to appear in court to face charges related to cases of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest following a traffic stop back in March.
The officers gained entry into Gaines’ apartment after her landlord opened the door. The officers say that Gaines was seated on the floor with her 5-year-old son with a gun pointed at them.
According to Baltimore County Police Spokesperson Elise Armacost, the building was evacuated and officers en-

gaged in an hours-long stand off with Gaines.
Armacost says that Gaines continuously threatened offi- cers verbally with her weapon pointed at them. Following the threats, an officer fired at Gaines, she fired several shots back, which were returned with more shots from officers, this time striking the 23-year-old multiple times and killing her.
Her 5-year-old son which she was holding was injured during the encounter, but is said to have non-life threatening wounds and is expected to sur- vive.
Man Pleads Guilty To Selling Drugs That Caused 2 Deaths
A 34-year-old Lakeland man pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and co- caine. He is facing a minimum of 20 years in federal prison when sentenced.
The case focuses on Wilson Angelo Graham, Jr., also known as “Noony,” of Lake- land. Two people died after using fentanyl purchased from Graham.
According to the pleas agree- ment, beginning in October 2015 through his arrest on Oc- tober 28, 2015, Graham dis- tributed the drugs in Lakeland. He sent messages to “D.G.” about fentanyl he had that was available for sale. He also told “D.G.” that the fentanyl was too strong to use more than half a baggie at once.
“D.G.” made several trips to Graham’s home between Oc- tober 3 and October 16, 2015. On October 16, 2015, the body of “B.S.” was discovered slumped over a coffee table at her parents’ guest cottage in Lakeland. She was the girl- friend of “D.G,” officials stated in court documents.
During the search of the guest cottage, detectives from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office found syringes, spoons with burned residue, and an empty package with drug residue.
Laboratory testing of the residues revealed the pres- ences of fentanyl. The Medical Examiner discovered a lethal amount of the drug in the woman’s body after perform- ing the autopsy.
Six days later, on October 22, 2015, Lakeland police re- sponded to an apartment where the body of “D.G.” was

discovered on the kitchen floor. Detectives found several pieces of drug paraphernalia near the body, including spoons with burned residue and an empty package.
Laboratory testing of the residues revealed the pres- ences of fentanyl. One of the spoons also revealed the pres- ence of cocaine. The Medical Examiner also discovered a lethal amount of the drug in the woman’s body after per- forming the autopsy.
Detectives learned during their investigation that “D.G.” had been at Graham’s home the night before he died.
On October 28, 2015, detec- tives executed a search warrant at Graham’s home. The search revealed eight baggies containing fentanyl. At least one of the baggies resembled the empty packages found near the bodies of both victims.
Graham was arrested and charged on November 13, 2015. According to the plea agreement, Graham pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distrib- ute fentanyl and cocaine re- sulting in two deaths. A sentencing date has not been set.

On August 2nd, Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s deputies were conducting proactive pa- trols in the area of Gronto Lake Road and Causeway Boulevard in Brandon in response to com- plaints of persons interrupting traffic as they panhandled for money.
Just before 4 p.m., deputies say they came across a man with a sign that read: “Home- less, Need Help, Thanks and God Bless.” When they checked into the man’s background, they learned that James Ed- ward Williams, Jr., 41, had outstanding warrants for viola- tion of probation on several narcotics-related charges.
Deputies took Williams into custody. When they searched him, deputies found a handgun, ammunition and “a quantity of marijuana packed for sale and/or distribution.”
The marijuana has an esti- mated street value of about $1,000. They also discovered a few credit and identification cards in Williams’ possession that didn’t belong to him.
