New Year’s Eve 2019 won’t just mark the end of the year. It marks the end of the decade, and it’s been a pretty good one for golf.
Even though Tiger Woods spent large chunks of it injured, it wasn’t a processional by any means. We saw the rise of young guns like Rory McIl- roy, Dustin Johnson, Jor- dan Spieth and Brooks Koepka.
Phil Mickelson was ever- present throughout, and of course, we got that 15th major win from Tiger along the way.
And to commemorate the close of the decade, Forbes for- mulated their top 10 highest- paid athletes of the decade list.
It’s pretty interesting stuff, and there’s two golfers on the list. You might be able to guess who: Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, who come in fifth and sixth with combined win- nings of more than 1 billion dol- lars.

This Decade?
Five people are confirmed dead after a plane, en route to Atlanta for the contest, crashed into a parking lot of a post office in Lafayette, Louisiana.
The Associated Press has confirmed that sports reporter Carley McCord, who is the daughter-in-law of LSU co-of- fensive coordinator Steve Ensminger, is among the dead. McCord’s husband, Steve Ensminger, Jr., con- firmed the news to the outlet.
McCord was an up-and- coming talent in the sports media field. She graduated
Following the unexpected Christmas Eve death of her fi- ancé, ESPN college football re- porter Edward Aschoff, Katy Berteau posted a pow- erful, heartfelt 12-tweet tribute to the late 34-year-old reporter last Thursday.
"I want to share the bright- ness that he showed, even up until the last day he was awake," she wrote on Aschoff's official Twitter ac- count. "He kept the doctors and nurses constantly laugh- ing, and always made a point to thank them and tell them what a great job they were doing. He also loved Christmas so much that, even from the ICU, he

Berteau said the support from friends and acquain- tances over social media has provided "brief moments of joy in this darkness."
It's unclear when Zion Williamson will return from injury, but the New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly willing to try some unique ways to get their top draft pick out on the floor.
Williamson has been out since before the regular season started after undergoing sur- gery to repair the torn menis- cus in his right knee.
The team is reportedly "trying to re-teach him how to

Many fantasy football players are all too familiar with the incredible power of postgame stat corrections, for better or worse. For one New York Giants player, it was a whole lot better.
Giants linebacker Markus Golden’s bank ac- count got $1 million richer on Thursday for something he did last Sunday, as a stat change upgraded his half-sack against the Washington Red- skins in Week 16 to a full sack.
For Golden, that meant 10 sacks on the season and the triggering of a major con- tract incentive.
