She began sewing as a hobby, which led her to utilizing her talents for church family and friends. She always demon- strated her love for cooking by always sharing with others.

A celebration of life service for Sister Maude Battle Royal who passed away on February 18, 2017 will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 2 p. m. at St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 2504 Chipco Street, Tampa, with Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, Sr., offici- ating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Sister Royal was preceded in death by: her loving husband, Johnnie B. Royal; son, Donnell Royal; parents, Ed and Lessie Battle; sisters, Jeanette Bivins and Doretha Johnson; brothers, Jimmy Battle and Johnny Battle; son-in-law, Lionel Outten.

Jerome Griffin, the medical staff and caregivers at University Village Nursing Center and Florida Hospital, Tampa.
Maude Battle Royal was born on April 7, 1927 to the parentage of Ed and Lessie Battle in War- wick, Georgia. Sister Royal ac- cepted Christ at an early age. In 1959 she united with St. John Progressive M. B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. F. G. Hilton. Her faith and love for God and her church were demonstrated through her sup- port by serving diligently in var- ious ministries including the Usher Board and Director for the Teenage Usher Board. She also worked diligently with the Neighborhood Crime Watch and made sure she assisted with the refreshments.
MR. ALBERT E. MENTION
Mr. Albert Mention, aka “Cool”, a former Tampa resi- dent, passed away on January 15, 2017 in Queens, New York. He was a graduate of Howard W. Blake High School Class of 1963, and a member of the marching band. Albert was gainfully em- ployed at Consolidated Edison Company for 32 years, before re- tiring in 1999.
He leaves to cherish precious memories with: his loving wife of 50 years, Grace Mention of Queens, New York; a faithful son, De Andre (Regina) Men- tion; loving daughter, Valerie Mention and fiancé, Samuel James; sisters, Barbara Donald- son, Claudine (Leroy) Blue, Susan (Jack) Pate and Mary (Raymond) Miller; brothers, Thomas Mention, Steven Men- tion, Leslie Mention, Michael Mention and Willie Conyers, Jr.; a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and classmates.

A homegoing service and pri- vate ceremony for Mr. Alexander Smith, Jr., 94, of Tampa, FL, who passed away on January 30, 2017 will be held on Saturday, Febru- ary 25, 2017.
Mr. Alexander Smith, Jr. was born in Bennettsville, SC on Au- gust 12, 1922 to the late Alexander and Annie Smith.
Mr. Smith treasured spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards, check- ers and watching baseball but, most of all he loved fishing.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; 1 brother, William Smith, Winston Salem, NC; 3 grandchildren, Anthony Mann, Tampa, Tyrone Smith, Winston Salem, NC, Cynthia Mann, Tampa.
