BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
Several members of the community came together for a special luncheon on February 3rd. Held at Ruth’s Chris Steak House, the luncheon drew members of the community that included pastors, community activists, educators, financial experts, attorneys, police officers, and others.
Ms. Tina Bivins, Presi- dent of the Kingdom Call Outreach (KCO) Program assembled the group to talk about critical issues in un- derserved and underprivi- leged communities in the Tampa Bay Area.
“We want to ignite change and inspire commu- nity involvement. These or- ganizations and leaders can learn so much from each other on how to better our communities. My goal is to galvanize ministries, regard- less of race or religion, to work together on common issues plaguing our commu- nities.”
This event was the Third Annual KCO Unity Lunch- eon. The Honorable Hills- borough County Court Judge, Daryl M. Manning, delivered the keynote ad- dress. Judge Manning re- flected on issues faced by the community and possible so- lutions to eradicate these is- sues.
As a result, in 2017, KCO initiatives will focus on fi- nancial literacy, legal redress workshops, domestic vio- lence prevention and aware- ness programs, and foster care.
Ms. Bivins further said, “To the best of my knowl-
tion. The significance of this kind of partnership has never been more important than
right now.”
