Deadline Nearing For Young Dancer Who Wants To Attend Alvin Ailey Summer Program
Abundant Life Enrichment Church Sponsors Mother’s Day Exterior Home Makeover
BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
The deadline is May 10th, and $3,000 is needed for housing.
Although Adia Hollist, a 10th grader at Howard W. Blake High School, Dance Dept., learned recently that she has been accepted into the Alvin Ailey Intensive Summer Dance Program, Level B, her mother, Mrs. Barbara Roberts is becom- ing concerned. The dead- line to pay the housing fee is May 10th.
An article was published on Aida’s behalf in early March requesting the com- munity’s support. The request thus far has fallen short. Housing is at Fordham Uni- versity in New York. The summer program runs from June 29, 2015 through July 31, 2015.
Adia started dancing at the age of 3 in the Chocolate Nutcracker, and this past season, played the role of Princess Zola in the pro- duction’s new name, Family Blessing.
At Blake, Adia is an honor roll student in the Dual En- rollment and advance place- ment classes. She is a member of the National Soci- ety of High School Scholars and National Honor Society

for Dance Arts. At her church, Holsey Temple CME Church, she is active in the Youth Ministry, Choir and Ushers.
She volunteers with sev- eral organizations.
“My future goal is to be- come a professional dancer and one day open dance schools for less fortunate kids,” Adia explained.
If she is given the oppor- tunity, Adia says she will share her experience in New York with other kids and help to mentor them.
Anyone wishing to donate to Adia’s effort to attend the Intensive Summer Program at Alvin Ailey School, may send donations to: Howard W. Blake School of the Arts, Dance Department, 1701 N. Boulevard, Tampa 33607. Checks should be made out to Blake Dance Dept., with Adia Hollist/Alvin Ailey on the memo line.
A local single mother will be the recipient of this service.
Pastor Randy Ran- dolph and the Abundant Life Enrichment Church are committed to serving the needs of the local commu- nity. “We believe God has planted us here to abun- dantly enrich lives through God’s word. We see the need in our community and desire to effectively address that need holistically as outlined in Romans 12:1-2,” ex- plains Pastor Randolph. With God on their side, they plan to successfully restore the hope, love, and faith of the community.
One of the many tasks that will help them accom- plish this goal, will be to ad- dress the needs of the single mother. As such, Pastor Randolph and his congre- gation have decided to bless one local single mother with a free exterior home paint job in May. This small gesture of love arrives just in time for Mother’s Day.
“We realize the value of mothers, especially single mothers. They pour all they have into the lives of their children. They nurture, pro- vide, support, and love their
PASTOR RANDY RANDOLPH
children through both good and bad decisions. She en- courages her children on a daily basis reminding them, it’s not about how you start, but how you finish, as dis- cussed in Zechariah 4:10.
“These mothers birth countless opportunities of greatness into the lives of their children through their sacrifices and oftentimes, they may go without just so their children can have. They work diligently on their jobs and go to great depths to en- sure their children have the best.”
And as Mother’s Day ap- proaches, the church desires to honor the mother who takes on the immeasurable task of raising her children all on her own. She may not have the time or the funds to tidy up the exterior grounds of her home, but we want to
bless her home with this free exterior paint job.
So, by now you’re asking, “How do I get Abundant Life Enrichment Church to select my home for the free exterior paint job?,“ or “I know a sin- gle mother in our local com- munity who could use a free exterior paint job, but how do I register her”?
In order to be selected as the recipient of the free exte- rior paint job, you or some- one you know must submit an essay (of 250 to 500 words) to Abundant Life En- richment Church explaining why this single mother de- serves an exterior home paint job for Mother’s Day.
Entry forms can be picked up at Abundant Life Enrich- ment Church (4701 E Hanna Ave., Tampa, FL 33610). Please submit the entry forms via fax (813-200- 8105), e-mail (info@alechurch.org), or mail to the above address. All entries must be received by Wednesday, May 6, 2015. The winner will be contacted on Thursday, May 7, 2015.
