Elderly Woman Injured In Fire Dies
Troopers Busy With
St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue units were called out at 3:05 a. m. Tuesday to a single story house fire at 1719 19th Avenue, South.
After units arrived on the scene, they reported seeing heavy smoke and flames.
A fire crew raced into the home to put out the fire and while inside they found 90- year-old Annie Mae Wat- son in her bedroom.
She had suffered second
to Tampa General Hospital. She was pronounced dead Wednesday, her 91st birth- day.
Firefighters reported that someone inside the home had gotten up to use the rest- room when they smelled smoke.
Firefighters said there were four people inside the house at the time of the fire, and three were able to es- cape.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man driv- ing the wrong way on I-275 in North Tampa late Tuesday triggered an accident involv- ing two other cars trying to avoid him.
David McGinnis, 35, told Troopers he mistakenly drove his BMW south on the northbound exit ramp at Fowler Avenue at 11:20 p. m. Troopers said he was not im- paired.
Prior to McGinnis being stopped, two other vehicles collided on northbound I-275 as the avoided the BMW.
Troopers said a Volkswa- gen 4-door, driven by 18- year-old Alayna Hernandez was in the in- side lane when she merged into the center lane and struck the rear of another ve- hicle driven by Maxine Sim- mons, 33. Both received

According to Highway Pa- trol Troop C, there have been 23 arrests this year for wrong way driving. In 2014, there were 117 wrong way citations written. Of that figure, there were 9 wrong way accidents and 5 fatalities.
In the latest industrial ac- cident in Hillsborough County, a man sustained se- vere injuries after being burned with acid.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue reported that early Wednesday, Robert Pinkston suffered burns over a large percent of his body and was taken to the burn unit at Tampa General Hospital.
Workers at the Mosaic Fertilizer Plant in Riverview called 9-1-1 when the acci-

dent occurred at 3:30 a. m. According to Plant Man- ager Robert Fredere, Jr.,
a 12-foot-by-12-foot tank full of phosphoric acid was being prepared for maintenance when Pinkston fell into it. He was immediately pulled out and had the acid washed off as other employees alerted emergency officials.
Fredere said there will be an investigation into the accident, and whatever infor- mation is gathered will be shared with other facilities.
No update has been re- leased on Pinkston’s condi- tion.
