Meetings Planned To Discuss Boundaries Of New High School
In August 2020, Hillsbor- ough County Public School District will open a new high school in the fast-growing area of southeastern Hills- borough County. It will be the first new high school to open in more than ten years.
Currently known as High School “TTT” for planning purposes, it will offer relief to nearby East Bay High School and Lennard High School. The attendance boundaries of Lennard, East Bay, New-
some, and Durant High Schools are proposed to be impacted to balance enroll- ment among the high schools.
Two meetings will be held for families to re- view and provide input to staff on the proposed boundary changes. The meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, July 18 and Thursday, July 26, both from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Shields Middle School,
located at 15732 Beth Shields Way, Ruskin.
Families may attend ei- ther meeting as the same in- formation will be available at both. The meetings will be in an open house format where families can review the infor- mation and offer input throughout the evening.
All students in the areas that are eventually adopted will be reassigned from their current assigned high school to the new high school, with
the exception of students who will be incoming seniors in 2020.
The proposed boundary changes will be effective starting August 2020.
High School “TTT” will be located on the north side of County Road 672 (Balm Road), east of U. S. Highway 301. The school is being de- signed to provide space for additional growth in the area. The boundary proposal includes minor adjustments
to the southern portions of the Newsome and Durant boundaries, which includes areas closer in proximity to the new High School “TTT” site.
Proposed boundary changes are not final until School Board approval, which is anticipated to occur in Fall 2018.
