Who Accused Him Of Rape
Any Buc player that ap- pears on any show or is inter- viewed is asked about their quarterback Jameis Win- ston. The reasons for that is obvious.
But as we saw on Twitter with linebacker Kwon Alexander and wide re- ceiver Chris Godwin, play- ers have been coming out showing support for Win- ston. Same can now be said about tight end Cameron Brate.
The 27-year-old appeared on “The Blitz” with Brady Quinn and Brian Custer on Sirius XM NFL Radio and came to the defense of the team’s captain.
“For me, all of my interac- tions with Jameis have been awesome. I am pretty close with him. We hang out out- side of football. I truly do enjoy spending time with him. He is caring, compas- sionate. Kind of a guy you want to associate yourself with as far as my experiences

with him.”
“I can’t really speak too
much to what is going on with everything else, with what else is going on with him. But that is not the Jameis I know. For me, I still love him. I think he is a great team- mate. And I think I speak for a lot of guys in that locker room with that sentiment.”
Heading into a season with lots of questions and doubt, having a good founda- tion for support is a good step in moving forward for Win- ston and the rest of the team. It seems like that support sys- tem is already there.
MARQUISE GOODWIN
Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin has found a home with the San Francisco 49ers after a breakout season in 2017 and a three-year, $20 million contract extension.
He wanted those he loves to have a home too, so he bought a new house for his mother, Tamina, and sister Deja, who has cerebral palsy.
Thursday, he posted video of the unveiling.
Goodwin says that Deja has been a lifelong inspiration. She is usually confined to a wheelchair. Goodwin is 10 months older than his sister and when they were children they were inseparable.
"If Deja wasn't my sister, I feel like I would still be moti- vated but not in the way that I am today," Goodwin told ESPN in 2013. "Having a dis- abled sister, that's a lot more motivation, especially when she tells you growing up that she wishes she can be out there with the kids playing and she wishes she can be out there running around."
Doctors told their mother that Deja would not live be- yond 6 months. But she con- tinues to overcome the odds. On Sept. 17, she will celebrate her 27th birthday.
"It's very inspirational to me," Goodwin said. "To me, no doctor can determine when it's your time to go. God really knows, and He's the only one who can really give you the day. You just have to keep the faith and live the best you can each day."
Gareon Conley avoided charges last year after a grand injury investigated sexual assault allegations that were made against him, but the star cornerback is not yet ready to put the case be- hind him entirely.
Conley has filed a law- suit against the woman who accused him of raping her days before the 2017 NFL Draft, claiming she damaged his reputation, hurt his draft stock and cost him an en- dorsement deal with Nike. Conley says the woman, Brooke Puscian, fabri- cated her entire story after she tried to have sex with him and he turned her down. The former Ohio State star says Puscian is guilty of com- mitting “malicious criminal

prosecution” after she lied to investigators.
Conley, who was drafted by the Oakland Raiders with the 24th overall pick last year, was expected to go higher in the first round prior to the sexual assault al- legation. We’ve listed him as one of the players who has the potential to break out during the 2018 season.
Bulls To Match Kings' Offer Sheet For Zach LaVine
  Former NFL Player Has Warrant
After a quiet start to free agency, Zach LaVine has re- portedly found a team inter- ested in securing his services long-term.
The 6-foot-5 guard has signed an offer sheet to a four-year, $80 million con- tract with the Sacramento Kings.
The Bulls, however, are expected to match the Kings' offer. They could be tempted to do so after making LaVine part of the return for trading Jimmy Butler to Minnesota

last summer (Kris Dunn and Lauri Markkanen were the other two players they received in the deal).
Former NFL wide receiver Jabar Gaffney had a war- rant issued for his arrest this week after he allegedly van- dalized the car of ex-team- mate Lito Sheppard.
Sheppard, a former two- time Pro Bowler with the Philadelphia Eagles who played with Gaffney at the University of Florida, came out of a Jacksonville Beach restaurant last month and found that the tires had been slashed on his BMW. His car later broke down when he was driving home, and surveil- lance footage showed some- one — allegedly Gaffney — pouring a contaminant inside the car’s fuel tank while it was parked. The damage added up to $14,000.
Gaffney has been charged with felony criminal mischief and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Sheppard, who also went to high school with Gaffney, has also filed a temporary re- straining order to keep

Gaffney and Sheppard were once close friends, but some angry tweets Gaffney sent years ago indicated the two had a falling out. At the time, Gaffney denied that his issues with Sheppard had anything to do with the mari- tal problems he was also hav- ing.
Capela Roughly Half
Of Salary He Wants
Clint Capela and the Houston Rockets do not ap- pear to be anywhere close to agreeing on a long-term con- tract extension.
Capela, a restricted free agent, is reportedly seeking a contract somewhere in the range of the four-year, $80 million deal fellow restricted free agent Zach LaVine has agreed to with the Chicago Bulls. Houston reportedly of- fered Capela roughly half of that deal.
Capela, 24, averaged 13.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game last season, leading the league with a 65.2

field goal percentage. He’s clearly worthy of a big con- tract, but the Rockets don’t have much cash to spend after they signed Chris Paul to a four-year, $160 million deal.
