Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson Reportedly In Negotiations For $10M Match
TIGER WOODS AND PHIL MICKELSON
Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are in negotiations to play a winner-take-all match for $10 million.
There have been murmurs of some sort of exhibition be- tween the two golfers going back to the Players Champi- onship in May, when they were grouped for the first two rounds and Mickelson sug- gested they skip "the ancillary stuff of a tournament and just go head-to-head and just have kind of a high-stakes, winner- take-all match."
When presented later with the idea, Woods didn't shoot it down.
"I'm definitely not against that," he said then. "We'll play for whatever makes him un- comfortable."
Nets Finalize Buyout With Dwight Howard, Clearing Way For Wizards
DWIGHT HOWARD
The Brooklyn Nets have fi- nalized a contract buyout with center Dwight Howard, clearing the way for him to sign a two-year, $11 million free- agent deal with the Washing- ton Wizards.
The deal with the Wizards will include a player option, sources said.
Brooklyn acquired Howard in a draft-day trade with the Charlotte Hornets for Timofey Mozgov and the 45th pick in June's NBA draft. The Nets and Howard weren't allowed to finalize a buyout until the end of the NBA's sign- ing moratorium Friday. Howard's $23.8 million salary will need to go un- claimed through waivers be- fore he can sign with the Wizards.

Most Los Angeles Lakers fans are hoping LeBron James can help snap a streak of disappointing sea- sons and bring the franchise another Larry O’Brien Tro- phy, but there are appar- ently some folks in Los Angeles who want nothing to do with the four-time NBA MVP.
Not long after LeBron announced that he will sign with the Lakers, famed L.A.
artist, Jonas painted an im- pressive mural crowning James the new king of the city.
Unfortunately, the mural was vandalized by one or more fans who don’t want to see LeBron in a Lakers uni- form. The culprit or culprits spray-painted things like “WE DONT WANT YOU” and “3-6,” which is a refer- ence to LeBron’s overall record in the NBA Finals.
Carmelo Anthony May
Have To Accept ‘Reduced
Role’ With Next Team
Carmelo Anthony is not the player he used to be, and he could be faced with that re- ality if and when the Okla- homa City Thunder part ways with him this summer. While plenty of teams will be inter- ested in the star forward, Carmelo will likely have to make a decision between con- tending for a title or being an offensive focal point.
With free agency well un- derway, teams won’t have a lot of money to spend on An- thony if he becomes a free agent. There is a good market for ‘Melo, but he may have to accept a “reduced role.”
There have been rum- blings that Anthony wants to play with LeBron James, so he obviously wouldn’t be the

focal point of the Los Angeles Lakers’ offense if that hap- pens. The same would be said if he ended up signing with the Houston Rockets to join his close friend Chris Paul.
Anthony will earn just under $28 million next sea- son pending a potential buy- out, so perhaps money will not be a huge factor for him.
