James Wright Chanel and Patti LaBelle
Ahh yes, she said she was gonna do right by James Wright Chanel, the YouTube/Facebook sensation and invite him over for Thanks- giving dinner and Patti La- belle did just that.
James of course shot to so- cial media stardom and Patti’s pies went to sales heaven, so to speak, after his now famous video touting the goodness of her Walmart distributed good- ies went viral.
Yaya DaCosta Files For Divorce From Husband Of 2 Years
Yaya DaCosta and soon to be ex-husband
It was reported last Decem- ber that ANTM runner-up Yaya DaCosta split from her husband of two years, Joshua Bee Alafia. The news came on the heels of YaYa getting her big break portraying Whitney Houston in a Lifetime biopic. Now, Page Six reports that the 32-year-old has filed for di- vorce from her movie-director husband, and it could get nasty.
YaYa filed papers for a con- tested divorce against her ex in Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday. The couple share a 15-month-old son, Sankara. As the publication notes, the fil- ing is sealed, so it’s unclear why the couple called it quits.
DaCosta was the second- place finisher in the third sea- son of “America’s Next Top Model.”

The 3-hour holiday tradition takes the viewers on a sing- along journey down the yellow brick road on the way home.

Members of the beloved funk band The Gap Band are feud- ing, and unfortunately, it’s be- tween the group’s two siblings, Ronnie and Charlie Wil- son.
It all boils down to who gets to legally use the name “The Gap Band” for monetary gain. The lawsuit was set in motion by Ronnie Wilson, who alleges his brother/former group member Charlie Wil- son (who left the group in 2009) is holding the group back from staging a comeback tour.
According to TMZ, the law- suit states that Ronnie booked two shows, one on NYC and one in Washington, D.C., but Charlie stopped the shows from happening (halting a cool $20,000) since he’s no longer in the group and thinks the other members shouldn’t per- form under The Gap Band moniker. Ronnie claims the band was in effect before Charlie even joined the group in 1972.
Ronnie is suing for damages and wants the court to block Charlie from interfering with future bookings.
Lil Scrappy Faces Eviction From His Georgia Home
Lil’ Scrappy has been hit with a lawsuit for not paying his rent, Bossip reports.
Randy Williams of the Williams Property Group filed the lawsuit against the Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta star, who re- portedly owes $4,022 in back rent, utility bills, court costs. His monthly rent for his five bedroom Georgia home is $3,000. If the ATL rapper doesn’t pay up, he faces being evicted.
Williams claims that the matter is close to being settled by the court. Scrappy has not commented on the matter.
Williams also filed a law- suit against Scrap back in
LIL SCRAPPY
January, which was also over unpaid rent. Scrappy also had a home foreclosed in 2010 after not making payments.
‘Empire’ Ratings Hit All-Time
Low On Thanksgiving Eve
The popular music drama Empire hit a low point on Wednesday night (Novem- ber 25). According to The Hol- lywood Reporter, this week’s episode suffered the worst rat- ings so far in the series’ run.
The Fox drama tumbled a steep 30 percent to a 3.1 rating among adults 18-49. That’s by far a night-of low for the top- rated broadcast series, which airs its fall finale next week. It’s a dramatic drop that the show hasn’t taken yet, but not altogether unique given TV viewers’ tendency [to] leave the tube before the holiday weekend (biggest bar night of the year!). And it is thus far unflappable in its DVR aver- age.
The day before Thanksgiv- ing is often referred to as one of “the busiest travel days of the year.” The high-traffic across the country could have

played a role in the drop in same-day viewers for Empire. The “Sinned Against” episode featured guest appear- ances by R&B star Alicia Keys and actress Vivica A. Fox. Empire still averaged a Wednesday night high of 9.1 million viewers. The previous viewership low for the Lee Daniels led show was the January 7 series premiere which brought in 9.9 million
viewers.
