 Cam Newton Takes
Myles Garrett Seems Offended By His NFL Top 100 Ranking
MYLES GARRETT Myles Garrett had a
breakout year in his second NFL season and showed off the skills that inspired the Cleveland Browns to draft him with the No. 1 overall pick two years ago, but the star defen- sive tackle may feel he is not getting the credit he deserves.
NFL Network released its annual Top 100 list this week, and Garrett just barely cracked the top 50. After he saw that he came in at No. 49, he promised that will be the lowest he is ever ranked going forward.

Bay Buccaneers
Per Year From Saints
The Tampa Bay Bucca- neers have been the punching bag of the NFC South over the last two seasons, and that trend continues as the star quarterback of the Carolina Panthers Cam Newton got his shot at the Bucs. The jab taken by Newton at the Buc- caneers surrounded all of the offseason drama around de- fensive tackle Gerald McCoy.
After nearly a decade in Tampa Bay with the Bucca- neers, McCoy was cut as the team found themselves up against the wall of the salary cap. Cutting McCoy saved the Buccaneers $13 million in cap space, they signed Ndamukong Suh (picked one selection ahead of McCoy in the 2009 draft) for $10 million, leaving them with a net of $3 million in

SHERRA WRIGHT AND LORENZEN WRIGHT
Veterans reported to training camp for the New Orleans Saints on Thursday, but Michael Thomas was not among them as expected. The star wide receiver is still seeking a new contract, and he wants more money than any player at his position has ever gotten.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported on Friday that Thomas and the Saints are not particularly close to a long-term deal, with

In a video put out on Twit-
ter by the Panthers’ social media account, McCoy is talking with the media when Newton video bombs the in- terview. As Newton comes over, he looks into the camera and says, “I’ll tell you what, like the old saying says, ‘One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.’”

 David Ortiz Released
  From Hospital,
Sherra Wright, the ex- wife of slain NBA player Lorenzen Wright, was sentenced to 30 years in prison Thursday (July 25) for helping to carry out the murder of the former Mem- phis Grizzlies player.
Wright pled guilty to fa- cilitation of a criminal at-
tempt to commit first-degree murder in a hearing in Shelby County Criminal Court. Judge Lee Coffee handed down the 30-year sentence and said Wright would be eligible for parole in nine years. Had Wright stood trial, she could've faced life in prison.
David Ortiz was released from Massachusetts General Hospital on Friday, more than six weeks after the for- mer Red Sox star was shot in the back in the Dominican Republic, ESPN first re- ported.
“David has been home since Friday,” a family source told the network’s Enrique Rojas. "At home he will be assisted by full-time nurses and will be visited regularly by his personal doctor.
“He will continue to un- dergo all the treatment and

EZEKIEL ELLIOTT
The Dallas Cowboys began training camp on Friday, and Ezekiel Elliott was not on the field as he continues to seek a long-term contract ex- tension. While the two sides have discussed a new deal, it seems unlikely that an agree- ment will be reached in the near future.
Just hours before the Cow- boys officially kicked off train- ing camp, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that El- liott and the team are “not close” to a long-term deal.
