'Aladdin' Has Crossed The Global
Mahershala Ali Joins Season 2 Of Hulu's Groundbreaking Comedy, 'Ramy'
Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali has been tapped for a prime guest star role on the Hulu comedy se- ries, Ramy.
The series nabbed a role for Ali, who the streaming service says is a huge fan of the groundbreaking show. The second season of the A24 and Jerrod Carmichael- produced project will pre- miere in 2020.
Ramy follows first-genera- tion, Egyptian-American Ramy Hassan (Ramy Youssef) who is on a spiri- tual journey in his politically- divided New Jersey neighborhood. Ramy brings a new perspective to the screen as it explores the chal- lenges of what it’s like to be caught between a religious community that believes life is a moral test, and a millen-

$1 Billion Mark, Becoming Will
Smith's First Film To Do So
Aladdin has defied many expectations!
Even though the film was suffering from the gripes of people who grew up with the original 1992 animated film, Aladdin, starring Will Smith as the Genie, has passed the $1 billion mark globally as of Friday. It is Disney's latest $1 billion money-maker, with several Marvel films, such as Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame. Just this week, Spider-Man: Far From Home also made it past $1 bil- lion. It is Will Smith's first film to make $1 billion glob- ally.
Even though some Disney fans were frustrated with the film not retaining the same charm as the early '90s origi- nal, the film was still im-

mensely popular in North America. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it re- mained in the top seven films for nine weeks. Elsewhere, the film did just as good if not bet- ter. In South Korea, The Hol-
lywood Reporter states, "it is the No. 4 Western title of all time with $81 million." In Japan, it has earned almost $100 million, and in the Mid- dle East, it is "the highest- grossing movie of all time."
‘Power’s Final Season To Air In Two Parts, Starz Says
POWER
Aretha Franklin’s Sons Continue Battle For Control Of Her Estate
Aretha Franklin’s sons are vying for control of the Queen of Soul’s estate. Ac- cording to the Associated Press, lawyers for Theodore White, II wants a judge to name him co-ex- ecutor of the estate along with Franklin’s nice, Sab- rina Owens.
Meanwhile, Franklin’s other son, Kecalf Franklin, filed for a tempo- rary restraining order in hopes of stopping Owens from making further deci- sion on the estate’s behalf until a judge can decide who should be the estate's execu- tor. Per TMZ, Kecalf claims Owens has been spending uncontrollably and selling off the late music legend’s proper, and personal items. The site reported that Ke- calf believes Owens re- ceived money from the estate and transferred a car in her name.

from pancreatic cancer last August. The 76-year-old music legend was originally believed to have passed without a will but in May, Owens reportedly discov- ered three handwritten wills in the singer’s home. Two of the documents were drafted
in 2010 and another was written in 2014. David Bennett, Franklin’s long- time attorney, filed the doc- uments in a Michigan probate court so that a judge can determine if the docu- ments are legal. Although two of Franklin’s sons ob- jected to the wills, Owens released a statement assert- ing that she would like to “remain neutral” in the mat- ter and wishes that “all par- ties involved make wise choices on behalf of their mother, her rich legacy, the family and the Aretha Franklin estate.”
In a separate court filing, Kecalf maintains that his late mother named him ex- ecutor in the 2014 will, and he has the support of his brother, Edward Franklin. White and Owens names were appar- ently crossed out of the will, but White doesn’t believe that it was his mother’s doing.
The sixth and final season of Power is coming next month, and next year.

will air in January 2020, the exec reveled.
Praised onstage Friday as a “monster” by Starz COO Jef- frey Hirsch, the series star- ring Omari Hardwick, Lela Loren, Naturi Naughton, Joseph Sikora, Michael Rainey, Jr., Ro- timi and Alani “La La” An- thony will also get its own aftershow. Featuring inter- views with the cast, EPs and special guests, Power Confi- dential will debut after the Season 6 opener in late Au- gust, Zlotnik said.
