Shootings Reported 2 Minutes Apart Leave 2 Men Dead
Jury Convicts Man Of Killing Ex-Girlfriend
The Tampa Police Depart- ment is investigating two shootings that took place near each other in East Tampa. The shootings were reported two minutes apart.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the first shooting was reported at 12:32 p.m., on January 16th. It took place in the 6700 block of Elm Court. The victim has been identified as Caleb Jef- ferson.
When officers arrived, they discovered a 26-year-old man suffering from an appar- ent gunshot injury. The man was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

patchers received a separate call from the 5700 block of Steven Court at 12:34 p.m. in reference to someone being shot. When officers arrived, they located a
27-year-old man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police have not deter- mined if the two shootings are related. However, the in- vestigation is continuing.
One of the victims has been identified as Caleb Jef- ferson. The name of the other man has not been re- leased.

Last week a panel of ju- rors convicted a man of killing his former girlfriend after he sent her a disturbing text.
Richard Miller was convicted of first-degree murder.
Prosecutors said on No- vember 6,, 2019, Miller, 51, sent Ms. Renee Williams a text that stated, “Never play with a person, they’re dangerous,” after the cou- ple’s relationship ended.

armed himself and waited for Ms. Williams. He re- portedly shot her in the apartment complex located on the 900 block of Nina Elizabeth Circle in Brandon.
Ms. Williams was shot three times. She died as a re- sult of her injuries.
Miller reportedly con- fessed to shooting Ms. Williams.
He was sentenced to life in prison.

IThe Sarasota Sheriff’s Office has arrested one per- son and is searching for a sec- ond man in connection with the murder of a young, prom- ising athlete. Dylan Jenk- ins was fatally injured on December 29th while at a gathering.
Kalvion Turner, 20, surrendered to police. They are still searching for 20- year-old NyQuan Priester.
According to police, 18- year-old Dylan Jenkins was home for Christmas break from Madonna Univer- sity in Michigan, and at- tended a gathering at

Ackerman Park, in Sarasota County. At some point during the event, a fight broke out and gunshots were fired. Jenkins was struck and died as a result of his injuries. Po- lice said he was not involved in the altercation that led to the shooting.
Jenkins was a standout young man, both on and off the football field. The 18- year-old Riverview High graduate just finished his first college semester and was home for Christmas break.
After graduating from Riverview High School, he continued his education and

athletic pursuit at Madonna University, where he was a standout in the classroom, on the football field, and in Track & Field. He earned a 3.0 grade point average his first semester at the school.
The Sarasota Sheriff’s Of- fice says detectives have in- terviewed several witnesses and continue to follow up on tips.
