Honor Student Earns Perfect Score On Standardized Test

Taniya Glenn loves to read, write, and shop. She is a very outgoing 5th grade student who is active at school, where she participates in the Morn- ing Show.
Taniya is a smart young lady who doesn’t mind giving her best when taking examina- tions. Taniya recently learned she had accomplished another feat. She made a perfect score
on her end of the year test last year. Her overall score was 5 out of 5, on the Florida Stan- dards Assessment. The FSA replaced the FCAT examina- tion students had been re- quired to pass.
In recognition of her achievement, Taniya was treated to dinner with her principal, Ms. Susan Pers- baker.
Her mother, Ms. Daralyn Glenn, said, “Taniya thinks I’m making too much of it, but

I’m very proud of her.” daughter is very outgoing and Ms. Glenn said her loves being in the public. She
is very active at Emmanuel Cathedral Church Of God In Christ, where she is a member.
Taniya is also a member of the Step Team and a mem- ber of the Safety Patrol.
Eleven-year-old Taniya plans to attend Williams IB Middle School next year on her path to becoming an attor- ney. If she is successful, Taniya will be the first attor- ney in her family.
Taniya launched the school year by making the Principal’s Honor Roll. Ms. Glenn is also proud of Taniya’s 6-year-old sister, Taliyah, who also made the Principal’s Honor Roll.
Hurricane Disaster Recovery Center Opened
Hillsborough County, the State of Florida, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency have partnered to open a Disaster Recovery Center where residents impacted by Hurricane Hermine can find out about programs and services available to help them.
The local Disaster Recovery Center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Keysville Recreation Center, 9390 Edison Road in Lithia. Appointments are not necessary.
Representatives from the following agencies will be available: FEMA, U. S. Small Business Admin- istration, Hillsborough County Social Services, Florida Department of Children and Families, Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, Senior Connection from Area Agency on Aging, and the Florida Department of Emergency Management.
Types of assistance for residents impacted between Aug. 31 and Sept. 11 are determined on a case- by-case basis.
Individuals and businesses also can begin the federal disaster assistance process by registering on- line at DisasterAssistance.gov, or by calling (800) 621-3362, which is video relay service accessible. Survivors who are deaf, hard of hearing or who have difficulty speaking may call TTY (800) 462- 7585. Helpline hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
