Shaw-Nuf Shout-Out!
New Administrator Appointed
After serving as an Assis- tant Principal II at Bartow Mid- dle School, Chauncey Mitchell was recently ap- pointed as Assistant Principal of Lake Region High School in Winter Haven. The appoint- ment was made by Superin- tendent Jacqueline M. Byrd and approved by the Polk County School Board. Mitchell received a degree in Business Administration from Bethune-Cookman College, and a Master’s in Educational Lead- ership from Nova Southeastern University. Congratulations, Chauncey Mitchell!

Earn While You Learn At YouthBuild-Lakeland
YouthBuild-Lakeland was founded in 2007 in an effort to help young adults, 18 to 24 years of age, who have dropped out of high school, but since that time, have made a decision to work towards improving their lives.
The six-month program of- fers classroom instruction in

This week’s Shaw-Nuf Shout-Out goes out to Tony and Lisa Kirk and their daughter, Kennedy. Last week, through the Blended Family Foundation, the Kalen Kares Project, thirty members of Girls Inc. of Lakeland each received a pair of new shoes. preparation for the GED Exam. In addition, participants get hands-on experience in con- struction by working on a Key- stone Challenge Fund worksite building affordable housing for low-income families.
There is also strong empha- sis placed on career develop- ment, personal develop- ment, and leadership development. Participants receive a bi-weekly stipend while earning their GED and learning a skill. They can also receive certifications in
First Aid/CPR, forklift and OSHA.
And.....there are scholar- ships that can be earned, by participants, to assist with post- secondary education. Youth- Build-Lakeland will host its next Open House on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. For fur- ther information call (863) 413- 3394 Ext. 308.
