Berry Gordy Will Reportedly Retire After Six Decades In The Entertainment Business
Travis Scott Announces
Second Annual
'ASTROWORLD Festival'
Known as one of the music business' most influential record executives, Berry Gordy will take a life-chang- ing step away from the busi- ness. According to Detroit Free Press, the acclaimed en- tertainment figure said he plans to retire this year. The announcement was made at the 60th-year celebration of Motown.
"I have come full circle. It is only appropriate (to an- nounce this) while here in Detroit, the city where my fairy tale happened with all of you," he said. The 89-year- old continued to state that he's "dreamed about it, talked about, threatened it," for years concerning retire-

ment.
In 1959, Gordy estab-
lished Motown in Detroit, Mich., first promoting the sounds of R&B/soul figures like the Miracles, Mary Wells, the Supremes, Gladys Knight & the Pips,
Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and more. As a songwriter, Gordy was able to get his foot in the door and become a prominent being in showbiz. He was later in- ducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017.
Travis Scott’s 'AS- TROWORLD Festival' was very successful in 2019. And this year, he's doing it again. The Houston native an- nounced that the festival is re- turning to Harris County Nov. 9.
Not much is changing for the festival this year. La Flame will curate the festivi- ties, and it will return to NRG Park, which sits across the street from the old AstroWorld amusement park.
This announcement comes after Scott wrapped-up his 'Wish You Were Here Tour.' The 'ASTROWORLD Festival' line-up has not been revealed
