60 Burglaries Arrested
Police have arrested a sec- ond man in connection with a shooting on campus last weekend. He is also a member of the University of South Florida football team.
Lamar Robbins, 22, was taken into custody last Thurs- day and charged with dis- charging a weapon on school property and giving false in- formation to law enforcement during a criminal investiga- tion.
According to the Univer- sity of South Florida Police, the investigation into shots fired continued after the ar- rest of Benjamin Knox, 21, last week.
As officers gathered infor- mation, they reportedly learned that Robbins, was with Knox when the gun- shots were fired in the parking garage.
Officials said investigators had spoken to Robbins ear- lier and he provided false in- formation concerning the incident.
Robbins was taken into custody and transported to the Hillsborough County Jail. His bond was set at $8,000, records show.

Police said, around 4 a.m., last Sunday, officers re- sponded to the area of Cres- cent Hill parking garage in reference to gunshots. A wit- ness told police gunshots had been heard inside the parking garage, which were followed by screeching tires.
When the officers entered the garage, they did not find anyone in the area and noth- ing was taking place.
However, a detailed inves- tigation of the garage revealed that a parked car contained an open gun case and a box of ammunition. The gun box and ammunition were in plain sight. The investigating offi- cers also observed several spent shell casings on the ground next to the vehicle, and it appeared that several shots had been fired.
BENJAMIN KNOX
Police continued their in- vestigation and determined that the outside of Holly D Residence Hall had been struck by gunfire.
Police then determined that the owner of the vehicle in question was registered to Knox, of Deland. Police de- termined that Knox was a student at the university and located him in his room.
Knox was taken into cus- tody and police recovered a handgun believed to have been used in the shooting in- cident. Knox has been charged with possession or discharge of a firearm on cam- pus, and shooting into an oc- cupied dwelling.
Knox is a freshman at the university and a member of the football team.
Both Knox and Robbins have been suspended from the team.
A 31-year-old St. Peters- burg man has been arrested and charged with the burglary of a business, grand theft, and resisting arrest without vio- lence. He was arrested early Friday after coming out of a business under surveillance.
According to the Tampa Police Department, nearly 30 South Tampa businesses have been broken into since No- vember 2014. As a result, on Friday morning, officers were conducting surveillance at the Swann Avenue Market, 1021 West Swann Avenue.
On October 11th, police began surveillance on Anto- nio E. Wright, Jr. Their in- vestigation into more than 60 commercial burglaries led them to Wright. On Friday, at approximately 3:20 a.m., police followed Wright from his home in St. Petersburg, to the corner of Delaware and
Swann Avenue, where he parked his vehicle.
Wright got out of his ve- hicle and police followed him on foot. The officers report- edly heard glass break and ran to the market. The officers watched Wright leave the store carrying the cash regis- ter drawer.
When the officers ordered Wright to stop, he allegedly attempted to climb over a chain link fence and was tased. However, it had no af- fect. He was tased a second time and then taken into cus- tody.
Wright was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he was medically cleared.
Police said Wright is a suspect in more than 60 com- mercial burglaries in several jurisdictions. The investiga- tion is continuing.

Two Tampa teenagers were taken into custody on Saturday and charged with home invasion. They were ar- rested in the Northview Hills area of Tampa.
According to police, when officers arrived in the 4400 block of Atwood Dr., they ob- served a gold Impala parked in the driveway. Upon check- ing, the officers learned the vehicle had been stolen to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
While investigating the stolen vehicle, officers re- ceived information about an armed home invasion robbery on Ashmore Drive. The offi- cers contacted air service and a perimeter was established. The K-9 units also responded to the scene.
Officers located the two suspects in the 4400 block of E. Chelsea Avenue.
After a short foot chase, police arrested 15-year-old
Reginald Alexander, and 17-year-old Samuel Brax- ton.
Ms. Cherylene Levy,
who lives in the area said, “It seemed as if the helicopter was on top of my house. There were so many police officers.”
Ms. Levy spoke to Mrs. Mary Washington, 72, one of the victims of the home in- vasion and said that the two teenagers got out of the stolen car and went through the neighborhood.
The suspect reportedly en- tered the home of Mrs. Washington’s house, put a gun to her head and de- manded money. The suspect reportedly told Mrs. Wash- ington he wasn’t going to kill her and to go back to sleep.
Ms. Levy said the resi- dents in the area pulled to- gether and helped the police keep their neighborhood safe.
