Woman Charged With Stabbing Her Boyfriend

MR. FREDDIE LEE PONDER
A Tribute of Love Service hon- oring the legacy of Mr. Freddie Lee Ponder will be held on Satur- day, September 8, 2018 at 12 Noon, at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida, with Reverend Joseph Bunts, officiating. He passed away on August 24, 2018 at his residence. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Ponder was preceded in death by: his mother, Evelina Ponder; father, David Lee Pon- der; son, Malachi Lee Ponder; 7 brothers; 3 sisters and 1 uncle.
He leaves to cherish precious memories of him with 1 daughter, Rebecca Ponder of Ft. Worth, TX; 2 grandsons, Derrick Ponder and Marcus Franklin, both of Pontiac, Michigan; 10 great grandchil- dren; sisters, Hattie M. Mouzon of Maryland, Louella Green of Coshocton, Ohio, Johnnie M. Stenson, Tampa, FL, Ola P. Cor- rea, Reidsville, NC, Rebekah Valentine, Chicago, IL, and Meriam Abrams Ligons of Tampa, FL; brothers, Willie Joe Ponder, Minneapolis, MN, Den- nis Ponder, Boston, GA; devoted nieces and nephew, Sheliah (James) Youngblood and Theresa Mitchell, all of Tampa, FL; de- voted great niece and nephew, Si- mone and Tino Bailey, Tampa; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ponder, New Jersey; a host of nieces, nephews, friends, including long- time friends, Urley Williams, Eu- nice, Sylvia; special friend, Beatrice Pinder; neighbors, Mr. Doc, Mr. Lee (Truck) and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Freddie Lee Ponder, af- fectionately known as Uncle Sonny, was born on December 5, 1942 in Monticello, Florida to the parentage of Evelina and David Lee Ponder. He resided in Tampa and was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County, graduating from Middleton High School in 1962.
After graduating he moved to Pontiac, Michigan, where he met and later married Peggy Lathen. To this union two children were born. Years later, Uncle Sonny moved back to Tampa. He was employed with the Florida Steel Company prior to his retirement. Uncle Sonny loved listening to spiritual music, spending time with his family and talking on the phone with his family. Uncle Sonny will surely be missed by everyone who truly loved him.
There will be a viewing on Fri- day September 7, 2018 from 5 – 8 p. m. with the family present from 7 – 8 p .m. at Wilson Funeral Home.
Friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Saturday at approximately 11:45 p. m.

A woman was taken into custody and a man treated for stab wounds on Sunday.
The incident that resulted in a stabbing took place at the NoHo Apartments, 401 N. Rome Avenue.
According to police, offi- cers responded to the loca- tion in reference to a man
being stabbed in the back. Po- lice said the wounds were not life-threatening.
During the investigation, detectives said the victim’s live-in girlfriend became a suspect in the stabbing and was taken into custody.
The investigation is con- tinuing.

MS. EARTHA LEE LAURA LEWIS
September 10, 2018 mark’s the first anniversary of transi- tioning of Ms. Eartha Lee Laura Lewis. Ms. Lewis was born on June 10th, 1948 and passed September 10th, 2017.
We take this moment to re- member the eternal light and gracefulness that was blessed by her life.
As Ms. Eartha Lewis leaves two sons, Donald Wayne Lewis, Jr., and Eldred Lavaughn Lewis, a host of grandchildren, her ex-hus- band, Donald Wayne Lewis, Sr., and more family friends, we acknowledge the legacy she has left.

       Detectives Investigate Suspicious Death
  The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s is currently investi- gating a death they have la- beled suspicious. The deceased woman was found near County Road 579 North of Dr. M. L. King, Jr., Blvd.
Deputies responded to the location last Saturday,
shortly before 8 p.m.
The woman has been
identified as Ms. Katherine McDaniel Wells, 64, of Tampa.
Detectives said the cause of death is pending the com- pletion of the autopsy. The investigation is on-going.

We, the family of Ms. Carla Deneen Lewis, would like to give our ‘Big Thanks’ to every- one throughout the entire City of Tampa and other cities and states for all acts of kindness in prayers, calls, flowers, Words of Comfort, and all other ex- pressions of sympathy.
Our hearts are so full of joy just to know that she touched so many people near and far. Words cannot express from all of the the condolences that have come from everyone from city to states all around.
