VFW Post To Honor First Responders

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Post 10140, will recognize First Responders on Sunday, September 9, 2018, just a few days shy of the celebra- tions across the country for 9-11.
Seventeen years ago to the date, the September 11, 2001 at- tacks (also referred to as 9/11) were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda against the United States on the morn- ing of Tuesday, September 11, 2001.
Since that time First Re- sponders across the nation have been openly recognized and honored for their service.
VFW Post 10140, located at 8414 N. 40th St., Tampa, invites the responders to stop by for dinner, between 12 noon and 6 p. m. It is free event for the re- tired and current First Respon- ders.
David Harris, who is in charge of Programs for the Post, said last year’s event attracted more than 200 responders. This will be the 5th event the Post has hosted for First Responders.
“Members of the VFW and First Responders have some- thing in common – we have all been on the ‘firing line,’ fighting for and protecting our country in some form. We want to show them that we appreciate the service they provide,” Harris said.
