White House And Trump News
Reporter: Are You Worried About Being The Last Democrat To Be President?
President Barack Obama
told reporters Sunday that he's not worried about being the last Democratic president — "not even for a while."
But the President, speaking to reporters at an economic coop- eration summit in Lima, did ac- knowledge the Democratic Party has some soul-searching to do.
"I am not worried about being the last Democratic president ... not even for a while," Obama said during a press conference. "And I say that not being cute — the Democratic nominee won

the popular vote, and obviously this is an extremely competitive race, and I would expect that fu- ture races will be competitive."
President Obama’s Final Foreign Trip Was Filled With Questions About Trump
Closing out his final foreign trip, President Obama was asked about the complex con- flict-of-interest questions Trump faces as he transitions from real estate mogul to Oval Office occupant. Though the President declined to explicitly offer Trump advice, he said he'd been served well by selling his assets and investing them in Treasury bills.
According to the Associated Press, President Barack Obama said Sunday he'd avoided ethical scandals throughout his administration by trying to follow the spirit, not just the letter of the law, and suggested President-elect Donald Trump would be wise to follow his example.
Good government advo- cates have criticized Trump's decision not to liquidate his sprawling business interests.
The President said he was proud his administration had- n't faced the scandals he said have "plagued" other adminis- trations. He said after eight years, he felt he could tell Americans he'd lived up to his promise to run an accountable and ethical government.
He summed up the rule of thumb his first White House counsel used to come up with policies for his administration:
President Obama makes his final foreign trip as president of the U.S.
He meets Putin of Russia briefly, and young people are excited to see him.
"If it sounds like it would be fun, then you can't do it."
President Obama’s re- marks came as he concluded his final world tour as presi- dent. It was the last time he'd take questions on foreign soil, a staple of his overseas trips that his administration has seen as an important symbol of
America's commitment to a rigorous free press.
Ironically President Obama chatted briefly with Russian President Vladimir Putin as the summit got under way. The conversation, which was likely to be the leaders' last face-to-face interaction, lasted just four minutes.
Black Owned Business Boycotted For Catering For Trump’s Son
Chef Don Studvent is the owner of 1917 American Bistro in De- troit.
Chef Don Studvent, a Black business owner in De- troit, Michigan, is under fire for catering an event for Donald Trump's son. His 7-year old restaurant, the 1917 American Bistro, serves well-prepared dishes ranging from grilled shrimp, salmon and chicken to blackened or deep-fried catfish. But they are facing a potential boycott by other African Amer- icans and other protestors against Donald Trump's presidency.
Studvent was reportedly just returning to the event to pick up his pots and pans when he got caught in a photo-op. His picture taken with Trump's son ended up all over Facebook, and people started reacting in a way that was never expected.
People began accusing him of "selling out" and postings on Facebook started to appear call- ing for people to boycott his
restaurant and catering service. Studvent believes that "busi- ness is business" and has noth- ing to do with politics, but the public has turned the event into a political issue. They are saying that because of Trump's rocky relationship with the Black community, no Black-owned business should do business with him or his family mem- bers.
But Studvent has explained that he doesn't take political sides when it comes to his busi- ness. “This is my living,” he said. “And it’s not just my living, my employees as well.”
The bad publicity has left Studvent's restaurant almost empty lately. He is hoping that it all blows over soon, and that he gets his former customers back. He says that the whole thing is unfair, and very hurtful to his company and his employ- ees.
Mike Pence Booed At ‘Hamilton’ Broadway Show
He's not even in the White House yet but President-elect Donald Trump is in an "un- precedented" war of words with the Great White Way, Broadway historians told the Daily News.
Members of the audience sparked the battle before the hit musical “Hamilton” began on Friday, jeering Vice-Presi- dent-elect Mike Pence who had come to see the show.
One of the stars addressed out Pence, the Indiana gover- nor, during the curtain-call, ex- pressing appreciation as well as concern from the hip-hop American history lesson.
“The Theater must always be a safe and special place. The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologize!”

Some audience members
took to Twitter to report that the show was paused several times as the crowd booed Pence at certain lines of the show.
