More Than 38 Million People Rely On Food Stamps, The Government Shutdown Could Hit Them Hard
Russian Lawyer At Trump Tower Meeting Charged With Obstruction Of Justice
A Russian lawyer at the center of the 2016 Trump Tower meeting between Rus- sians and Trump campaign officials has been charged with criminal obstruction of justice in a federal civil case in Manhattan.
Natalia Veselnitskaya,
who was representing Russ- ian-based Prevezon Holdings in a fight against forfeiture of assets and money laundering penalties, is accused of sub- mitting an intentionally mis- leading statement to the court.
According to prosecutors, Veselnitskaya presented what she said were investiga- tive findings by the Russian government that exonerated her client when she had actu- ally helped draft the findings in secret cooperation with a Russian prosecutor.

rectly related to the Trump Tower meeting.
In the Prevezon case, the government accused Preve- zon of laundering part of the proceeds of an alleged tax fraud scheme uncovered by Sergei Magnitsky, a Russia accountant who had helped
report the fraud to Russian authorities and was later ar- rested.
Magnitsky died in prison, and in 2012 President Barack Obama signed the Magnitsky Act, which sanc- tioned Russian officials be- lieved responsible for his death. At the 2016 Trump Tower meeting, which was convened after a Trump as- sociate told Donald Trump, Jr. that a group of Russians had dirt on Hillary Clinton, Veselnitskaya pressed Trump campaign officials on lifting the Mag- nitsky sanctions.
Prosecutors filed the Pre- vezon case in 2013 seeking to recover several million dol- lars worth of property, in- cluding New York real estate, alleging money laundering from the proceeds of the tax fraud scheme.
As the government’s par- tial shutdown drags on with no clear end in sight, millions of America’s most vulnerable citizens are in danger of being left to go hungry.
The Department of Agri- culture, among the nine fed- eral agencies that shut down on December 21, is now guar- anteeing funding for the na- tion’s largest food aid program, known as the Sup- plemental Nutrition Assis- tance Program (SNAP), through February. After that, the agency doesn’t have a game plan to support the more than 38 million people on the program — but is look- ing into other options.

Dionne Warwick’s $7M IRS Lawsuit On Hold Due
To President Trump’s Government Shutdown
DIONNE WARWICK AND DONALD TRUMP
Dionne Warwick was just a couple of months away from the possibility of get- ting her years long legal bat- tle against the IRS resolved, when along comes Donald Trump‘s government shut- down, putting her case on an indefinite hold.
Warwick had a trail date of March 6 set, after first filing back in 2013. However, a New Jersey fed- eral judge notified War- wick, 78, that her lawsuit against the IRS has been suspended.
It’s real simple. The order states that due to the federal government not being funded by Congress, the De- partment of Justice and the
United States Attorney Of- fice for the District of New Jersey will be shut down.
In case you’re wondering, the shutdown does not affect all federal courts, but it does suspend all cases involving the United States Govern- ment as a defendant — which in Warwick’s case, it does. So, until the federal government is funded, noth- ing is gonna happen.
Oh yeah, speaking of the the shutdown, remember, the orange a-hole in the White House told reporters on Friday that the shutdown could last for months or years, depending on when he got the border wall fund- ing he has been demanding.
