On Saturday, January 12th, residents are invited to attend the 5th Annual Financial Lit- eracy Workshop and the 2nd Annual Envision Your Vision Book Giveaway. The dual event will take place at the NFL YET Center, 3310 E. Lake Avenue, from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
This is the 5th Annual MLK Day of Service Financial Literacy Workshop. Several organizations are joining the East Tampa Business and Civic Association to sponsor the event.
During the event, Dr.

information on how students can attend college for free; provide ACT/SAT test taking strategies (and free prep books while supplies last), suggest ways for parents to help their children with read- ing comprehension and sug- gest ways to increase the reading scores of elementary- aged children.
Ms. Dianne Hart, CEO of the East Tampa Business & Civic Association said, “This event is free and open to any- one in the community who would like to gain a better un- derstanding of their personal finances. It is intergenera- tional.
“We just want people to come out and learn how to take care of themselves bet- ter, whether financially, or with their medications, or both.
“Once again, our guest speaker will be Dr. Vonda- lyn Crawford, PharmD, of Health Matters Pharmacy. Dr. Crawford will explain how medications work and we are encouraging everyone to bring their medications with them.”
The Financial Literacy Workshop is part of the orga- nization’s “Fifth Annual
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service, A Day On, Not A Day Off.”
“We will focus on Finan- cial Literacy and explain why it is better to have a bank ac- count than to patronize check-cashing facilities,” she said.
During the workshop, res- idents of all ages will be able to benefit from the informa- tion available. In addition to the information, each person attending will receive a bag of groceries and clothing will be available as well.
Those planning to attend the Financial Literacy Work- shop are asked to pre-register as soon as possible.
Anyone wishing to regis- ter can call the East Tampa Business & Civic Association at (813) 248-3977; or visit their web site at www.etb- catampa.org.
