City of Tampa Neighbor- hood Enhancement Division Manager, Sal Ruggerio, is working on a pilot program that would put trash recepti- cals at the intersection of 34th Street and Hillsborough Avenue.
This move is being made in response to complaints from residents and motorists about the amount of trash
that finds its way to that in- tersection.
Ruggerio said he’s still negotiating with the city’s Parks and Recreation De- partment on getting the re- cepticals, and he’s also undecided where they will be placed.
“They may be on both sides of Hillsborough Av- enue at 34th Street, or just on
the north side. That hasn’t been determined at this time.”
Residents in the area, along with business owners and motorists are asked to contact the city’s Code En- forcement Division at (813) 274-5545, and inquire about the pilot program and where they think the recepticals should be placed.
Sale Of Legalized Marijuana To Begin Next Week
The Florida Department of Health has granted per- mission to a dispensary to sell a strain of medical mari- juana. The permission was given to Trulieve, a grower and dispensary based in Tal- lahassee.
Trulieve is the first dis- pensary to receive the ap-
proval.
The strain approved is low
in THC. THC is the chemical that produces a euphoric high when smoked. In 2014, mem- bers of the Florida Legisla- ture legalized the variety of the drug to be used as a med- ical option for children with severe epilepsy and cancer.
Other dispensaries, in- cluding Alpha/Surterra, which is based in Tampa and Tallahassee, will begin dis- pensing the drug in the near future.
Medical marijuana in full strength, designated for ter- minally ill patients, will be available in early August.
