ting a lot of calls from people in need of financial assis- tance. That’s when God put it in my heart to put together a concert where the proceeds will be used to help people in crisis.
With Lexi Lewis as the Mistress of Ceremony, and Ms. Kendrick as the Event Liaison, the jazz concert will feature Davino DaVision Jazz Entertainment, Standing 8 Count Jazz Ensemble, and Nathan Mitchell as the headliner.
Mitchell’s music has a unique touch that has cap- tured audiences all over the world.
Standing 8 Count will bring a mixed flavor of jazz that will be a soothing sound to your ears.

began the group a short time ago, and they possess a de- lightful taste in the music that brings sound from the soul.
Ms. Kendrick said at their Family Support and Re-
source Center, they are con- stantly striving to provide more services to those in need.
“We have life skills and workshops underway, and people will need to attend one of these courses to get assistance. This is an evalua- tion process.
Ms. Kendrick said they will provide the help once annually to all qualified ap- plicants. The help will con- tinue as long as the funding lasts.
Tickets for the concert are $25 and for more informa- tion, contact Ms. Kendrick at (813) 900-7941.
‘Holy Ghost Block Party’ Planned For The Weekend
In an effort to bring fam- ilies and the community closer in light of the inci- dents in Texas, Louisiana, and Minnesota, a group of people came up with an idea to bring people together.
On Saturday, July 23rd at 11 a. m. at New Progress M. B. Church, 3307 East Shad- owlawn, a “Holy Ghost Block Party” will be held.
The block party will also honor the pastor and founder of New Progress, the late Rev. E. J. Williams, and assure his family that the church is on solid foundation and is progressively moving forward.
Bishop Michelle B. Patty, who is organizing the event, said they want to bring families together with a lot of different activities.
“We’re going to have activ- ities for the kids and grownups, and remind the young people of what life was like before technology took over.
“We want them to see how simple life was then, and how closer we all were as a community and as a people.”
Bishop Patty said sev- eral candidates seeking office have committed to attend the event and it is a family event for anyone, from the

cradle to 100.
“We’re going to have food
and other vendors present, and there will be representa- tives from area insurance companies for families who need help making sure they are covered in the event of the death of a family mem- ber.”
“We think the timeless- ness of this event is essential, because communities are wavering all over the coun- try, and we would like to still the waters in Tampa before things start getting rough.”
Everyone is asked to bring their neighbors and friends to this event and it’s open to everyone regardless of where you live.
