West Tampa Man Killed In Drive-By Shooting
Student Charged After Classmate Cut With Knife

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested a stu- dent after another student was cut with a knife. The incident took place following an argu- ment involving several stu- dents.
According to police, the inci- dent took place around noon on Friday. Tymiek James, 16, re- portedly became engaged in an argument with several girls while in the cafeteria of Dowdell Middle School, 1208 Wishing Well Way.
During the course of the ar- gument, James is alleged to have taken out a pocket knife and cut a 13-year-old classmate on the thigh. The laceration was minor. The student was trans- ported to a local hospital, where she was treated for her injury, police said.
James was taken into cus- tody and charged with aggra- vated battery with a weapon, possession of a weapon on school grounds, and carrying a concealed weapon. He was transported to the Juvenile As- sessment Center and booked on the charges.
Four People Shot At Patio Bar
Early Sunday morning, Bryant Murray, 44, was sit- ting with a group of friends in the 1700 block of Walnut play- ing dominoes.
Tampa Police said at 5:02 a. m., they got a 9-1-1 call of a person shot. When officers ar- rived, they found Murray in the front yard of the residence suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital and pro- nounced dead on arrival.
Police said witnesses re- ported that a vehicle, de- scribed as a dark colored 4-door compact, drove by and a shot was fired, striking Mur- ray. The vehicle quickly drove away after the shooting.
Known as “Diamond, Murray” was a fixture in the West Tampa community and well known by a lot of people.

It was later reported that a small fire at the same home where the shooting took place was reported hours later that damaged the kitchen area. The extent of the damage is un- known at this time, and the oc- cupants were displaced until a damage assessment can be completed.

At 2 a. m. Saturday morning, Tampa Police responded to a call of shots fired at Carmine’s Patio Bar, 1802 7th Avenue.
Police said the business was near capacity at the time of the shooting. When officers ar- rived, they found two victims with serious gunshot wounds and two others reported to be in stable condition.
Police said Shuan Smith, 29, and Matthew Musmian, 28, were transported by fam- ily/friends to a local hospital and initially reported to be in critical condition. Parish Jor- dan, 22, and Leroy Monsal- vatge, 22, were also hospitalized and reported to be in stable condition.

one shooter was involved, and a suspect vehicle has been de- scribed as black or dark col- ored and a 4-door, possibly a Toyota Corolla.
Police said they have not got- ten any cooperation from wit- nesses or the victims.
East Tampa Man Killed In Hit N’ Run Accident
Police Searching For Missing Teenager

The Tampa Police Depart- ment is currently investigating a traffic accident that left a man dead. The accident took place on Sunday morning at the intersection of N. 40th Street and E. Deleuil Avenue.
According to police, Her- bert M. James, 25, was driv- ing his vehicle on N. 40th Street shortly after 3 a.m. James was at the intersection of N. 40th Street and E. Deleuil Avenue when his vehi- cle was struck by a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro.
Based on the impact, police believe that the driver of the Camaro was turning onto N. 40th Street from Deleuil when he struck James’ vehicle.
After the accident, the driver of the Camaro, who is only described as a Black man, fled on foot, leaving the car be- hind. Police later determined that the vehicle had been rented in Orlando.
Police said James was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.
A Tampa native, James at- tended the public schools of Hillsborough County. After he earned his GED, he became employed as a member of the International Longshoremen’s Association. He was working at the Port of Manatee at the time of his death.
His sister, Ms. Chonda James, said he was the son of William James and the late

Mrs. Versey James. He is the father of two young sons and has 13 surviving brothers and sisters, among other rela- tives and friends.
She further stated that James was known for his ability to repair things and said he could fix anything. He was a member of Agape Chris- tian Center.
When time allowed, James enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his dirt bike.
Funeral services for James were incomplete at press time. Harmon’s Funeral Home is in charge of handling arrange- ments.

The Winter Haven Police De- partment is asking for help in locating a missing 17-year-old. She was reported missing by her mother.
According to police, Brit- tany Iris Galan was last seen at her home in Winter Haven on Friday night. She was last seen wearing a black short sleeved shirt, spandex pants or stonewashed jeans.
The teenager is described as being 5’1” and weighing ap- proximately 150 pounds. She has long black hair with blonde tips, gauge earrings, and a nose ring.

Winter Haven Police are ask- ing for the public’s assistance in identifying a woman who used a stolen credit card at two businesses in Haines City after a Winter Haven Hospital worker discovered her wallet had been taken from her purse Thursday.
Police said the worker opened her purse at 2:30 p.m. and discovered her wallet was missing. The purse had been inside a desk drawer, and po- lice aid the theft occurred be- tween 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.
