Postal Worker Faces
Man Shot By Police, In Serious Condition
15 Years In $2M
Stolen Checks Case
The Tampa Police Depart- ment is currently investigat- ing a police shooting. The incident took place in the 1000 block of E. 25th Av- enue.
The information pertain- ing to the shooting is sketchy
and none of those involved have been identified.
According to police, offi- cers responded to 1022 E. 25th Avenue, in reference to a burglary at approximately 10:53 a.m. The officers en- countered a suspect inside
the house. The officer was in fear of his life and opened fire on the suspect.
The suspect, who police said was wanted for viola- tion of probation, was trans- ported to a local hospital in serious condition.
A former U. S. postal worker was convicted by a federal jury Wednesday. He was indicted on charges of theft of government property and theft of mail in March 2016.
Stacy Darnell Mitchell
is facing a maximum sen- tence of 15 years in prison. A sentencing date has not been set. Mitchell was an em- ployee at the processing dis- tribution center in St. Petersburg. Officials said Mitchell and several others were involved in a scheme where Mitchell would take possession of the checks from the distribution center.

ceiving Social Security. In Anderson’s plea agreement he stated that he received benefit checks total-
ing at least $2,275,000. The thefts began around January 2012 and continued
until October 2012.
Teen Charged With Attempted Murder Of Police Officer
Tampa Police arrested a seventeen-year-old and charged him with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer. The incident took place late Monday night.
According to police, two officers responded to a call of an auto burglary in progress. Officers were dis- patched to the 3500 block of N. 19th Street.
When the officers arrived, they observed three individ- uals and verbally identified themselves as police officers. One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the officers and fired shots at them. All three ran away after shooting at

the officers. However, police were able
to capture the individual
identified as the person who fired the gun. Police took Jeffrey Roldan-Rosa, of Tampa, into custody at the intersection of North 20th Street and E. 28th Avenue.
He was charged with at- tempted murder of a law en- forcement officer, resisting arrest without violence, auto burglary and loitering and prowling.
The investigation is con- tinuing and police still look- ing for the wo Black males.
Neither of the officers who responded to the scene were injured. They were identified as Officer Heal Pelletier and Officer David Miller.

Three Jailed, Reward Reaches $100,000 For Accused Cop Killer
MARKEITH LOYD ... Wanted for killing police officer in Orlando
Law enforcement arrested three people they say helped a man being sought for killing a police office. Authorities said the suspects aided Loyd as he attempted to avoid being ar- rested.
The case began in Decem- ber when Loyd allegedly shot and killed his pregnant girl- friend, Sade Dixon. He is also accused of shooting her brother.

him into custody at a Wal- Mart store.
Officials said after Master Sgt. Clayton was killed, Loyd fled the scene. On Wednesday, police arrested his niece, Lakensha Smith Loyd, one of his nieces. She is accused of contacting people on Loyd’s behalf after Ms. Dixon was killed and remain- ing in contact with him.
On Tuesday, police arrested Zarghee Mayan, who offi- cials said never contacted po- lice after meeting with Loyd, who allegedly told him that he

had killed Ms. Dixon. The third person arrested is
Jameis Slaughter, who is accused of being an accessory after the fact.
The manhunt for Loyd has already led to several injuries and the death of Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy 1st Class Norman Lewis, who died in a motorcycle crash while searching for him on the day of Clayton’s death.
Authorities have increased the reward for information leading to Loyd’s arrest to $100,000.
